Yesterday.... - ***warning*** SAD

punkeemunkee'smom wrote: Yesterday was our 12th anniversary. Bill and I had a wonderful date on Saturday night. We went to Olive Garden. One of my friends watched Taylor-it was really nice. So yesterday we decided to take it easy. Bill was off work and we wanted to just relax around the house,watch movies,etc. So anyway about 3pm we are all outside in the yard-feeding the calves,playing with the dog,I was cleaning the bunny's cage. We still have had this female dog that I talked about coming around and recently she has begun running on the side of the road after anything that has a trailer or any tractor that passes by. Well a tractor comes by and the dogs run out to the side of the road-NOT on the road just in the ditch-Taylor and I yell at Spot to get over here-we have been yelling at him whenever he took the mind to follow the stupid female dog...the tractor for a reason we still don't understand came off the side of the road into the ditch and hit Spot. He did not stop...Bill went and picked Spot up,our neighbors saw it and came over to say the guy on the tractor looked back and had to know he hit him IN FRONT OF the little girl who owned him Spot was hurt pretty bad. He couldn't move and his side was badly cut...we had to call our friend who is our vet and meet him at the clinic. His femur was broken as well as his hips. His heart was sounding bad and the vet did not feel he would make it through surgery. They gave him some shots to relax him and Tay come in to say goodbye It was the saddest thing..he opened his eyes back up and tried to lick Tay's hand... It was absolutely horrible-Taylor saw the whole thing and cried endlessly all night. Anyway-that is how our day went! I feel so guilty. Oh and the real kicker...the people who own the female dog came by to tell us we could go ahead and keep her if that would make us happy....

The worst part was that yesterday was also Spot's birthday...Tay and I had been planning a 'party' we were going to bring him home scraps for a birthday treat

jcc64 replied: OMG, Abbie, I'm so sorry! That is completely awful. I had a huge lump in my throat reading your story, b/c I sort of saw where it was heading. Many hugs to you and Tay- it's so awful to lose a pet, but that way is doubly traumatic.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Thank you everyone! It has been tragic! Tay wants to have a service for him later We buried (yesterday) him under our big tree in the back where he liked to lay and watch the calves.
