Your favorite Halloween memory...

Maddie&EthansMom wrote: I love Halloween, but not as much as my mother. It is her favorite holiday. She always transformed our front porch into a haunted house. It was AWESOME!! She is so creative. She did it all by herself, too. She had some pretty scary stuff in there. Nothing can beat the memories of the years she did that.

But, one of my favorite memories trick or treating was the time my best friend and I went (we were WAY too old to be trick or treating, btw). We dressed as nerds. It was hilarious b/c we were really nerds. rolling_smile.gif Anyway, we were walking thru a neighbors yard and the sprinklers came on. She ran one way and I ran the other and somehow we ended up colliding. emlaugh.gif We got up and brushed ourselves off and went home (stopping to get more candy along the way). wink.gif When we got home we cracked open the bags of candy and almost ALL of my candy was missing!! ohmy.gif Come to find out I had a hole in my bag. unsure.gif The funny thing is, my best friend was picking it up behind me the whole time. rolling_smile.gif She kept saying "Look! Someone dropped their candy!" laugh.gif She ended up sharing her candy with me...well part of it was mine anyway. thumb.gif

And I really miss my neighbor lady's popcorn balls from when I was a kid. wub.gif

favre4fan replied: OHNO!! I would have beenso mad!! I can't remember any one Halloween that stands out but my favorite costume of all time is when i dressed up like Cyndi Lauper!! Tee Hee!! tongue.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: as it kid it would have to be making a min-haunted trail through the yard, I was in the back year, pertty dark and I would run out and scare the older kids, it was so fun.

as an adult it would be our parties we used to have, they were a balst we have tons of decorations, the best thing was I had this mat that if you steped on it, there would be this LOUD scream, well I put in in the half bath (when we had a twonhome) and I would hide it under the mat in there so they had no clue, then I would just waite for someone to go to the bathroom laugh.gif it was even more fun seeing people try and manover around it (this bath was pretty small). Oh and we would change the outside light to a black light, ti was great and made it real easy to find us. oh how I miss thoes parties

alice&arik replied: My favorite Halloween was the year we had that blizzard. I think we were the only family out trick or treating. I ws dressed as a bum I think. I didn't have a coat on, and only had these littel canvas shoes on. I got so cold and froze my feet. I cried the whole time but we got tons of candy. I don't remember if it was the same year or not, but one time I had my pillow case FULL of candy and ended up taking this little travel cup around. Everyone felt so sorry for me because I only had the cup so they gave me extra. It was so funny and my brother and sisters were so mad, they woudl whine and say "she has a whole pillow case full in the car!! bawling.gif " But they didn't listen, just gave me more. Yeah I loved using pillow cases, we had so much candy and it would last so long! I think we ususally still had some til Christmas! rolling_smile.gif

MomToMany replied:
I remember that Alice! I don't remember what I was dreesed as though. Maybe you can remind me?? I'm surprised Mom took us out in that! What the heck was she thinking????

I was going to post about that year. I think it was 1991?? Not totally sure.

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I don't really remember anything in particular. But I do remember my favorite costume
When I was 3 my mom made me a bunch of grapes smile.gif it was so cute, I just wish she would have saved it I would love to put Katy in it next year

TANNER'S MOM replied: Halloween wasn't a big deal at my house! It was kinda paegen, you know! And my dad was a single dad and a truck driver who was never home, so I stayed at my Granny Bob's!

I only remember having a custome once or twice. But one year they had a school dance, I guess I might have been in 6th grade, and man I really wanted to go. My uncle had told me he would take me if I would find the custome. While I was at school my grandma made me a peasant dress, out of velvet, and it was in patch work..almost gypies type with lace on the bottom. I thought it was the prettiest thing I had ever seen. I put my hair back in a hankerfcheif! My Granny had that picture hanging in her living room until she died.

Josie83 replied: All your stories are great, you're making me feel a bit sad that we never were allowed to celebrate it! Having said that, i won't be encouraging Cassie to celebrate it either. Just the way we've been brought up! but I love all your tales! xx

redchief replied: My favorite... I was in sixth grade (I think). I was staying at an aunt's house a lot back then. She decked me out as a victorian woman. I was gorgeous.

I won a local contest for best costume that year... The award presenters didn't even know whether I was a boy or a girl. I still look good in blue wink.gif

MomToMany replied: rolling_smile.gif LOL Ed! That's hilarious!! What a great memory to pass down to your children huh.gif .

redchief replied:
Errr... John was in the Halloween parade with the band 2 nights ago... dressed in a french maid's outfit complete with garters and heels.

He has better lookin' legs than me bawling.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!! rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

I think some of my fav Halloween's as a kid were when we lived n Naples Park in Fl. There were tons of houses in that neighborhood. I always wound up having to take a pillowcase for a sack because we would get so much candy. One of the houses would cook hotdogs and have soda for the Trick or Treaters instead of candy. It was a great place to take a break before heading out for more candy.

As an adult I would have to say when I had a Halloween party in college. I loved my goth angel costume and it was so much fun. We were a bunch of music majors so everyone got up and sang or did something musical.

I think this year might actually become my fav since Jade is really going to be able to Trick or Treat. We are going as a big group, then it's off to Wakiki to walk around and see all of the other crazies in costume. After that we will come back home and have a party.

Josie83 replied: Ed your post is hilarious. My boyfriend would NEVER dress as a woman! You must be a riot xx

MomToMany replied:
rolling_smile.gif ROFLMAO!! That's too funny!! What a great family!!!

alice&arik replied:
I can't remember what you were that year. Something tells me you were wearing white. Had a mask maybe. I remember you walking with me down the street and we were talking about how cold I was. And I think you were giving me a hard time. sad.gif rolling_smile.gif I know I was such a whiner. I would have to think about it some more. I can't remember the year either. unsure.gif

MommyToAshley replied: rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif I love all the stories!

As a child, I think my favorite year was when I dressed as Pippi Longstocking. (That was my favorite book at the time). I wore a dress and different color stockings and then braided my hair and had a wire going through them to make them stick out just like Pippi's. smile.gif

As an adult, we used to go to Halloween parties all the time. But, I remember one year when DH and I went to Haunted Houses. There was this one haunted trail really scared the puke out of me. blush.gif He found it humorous though.

kit_kats_mom replied: Favorite kid Costume: One year, I was in gymnastics and had grown so I was super gangly. I was supposed to be a bunny but 3 days before halloween I did a double back off of the uneven bars and landed on my face. Broke my nose and had two black eyes. Mom whipped up a "Rocky" costume for me and I went as a boxer. It was great. My mom was so creative in a pinch LOL

Favorite Trick or Treating Moment: We were trick or treating on base one year. I was going up to a house and my mom was waiting in the car. I heard her saying something but I was bound and determined to get that candy. All of a sudden, a lady dressed up like a witch jumped out from behind one of the trees lining the sidewalk to their front door. Scared the CRAP out of me. I ended up dropping my candy, running to the car and I was totally done with trick or treating that year. To her credit, the witch brought the candy to the car.

Favorite adult costume: I handmade a Vegas Showgirl costume when I was 23. I started sewing sequins on in July and I created a beautiful beaded headdress with beads hanging down around my face and framing it from my chin to my chest. It was awesome. The feathers on top and on my "tail piece" were super cool too. I came in second in one of the bars "sexiest" costume contest. I lost to a group of shirtless headbangers dressed like Kiss. Grrrrr that was $500 I could have used at the time. LOL I still felt super sexy in that outfit though.

Josie83 replied:
You never fail to crack me up! Lol at Rock! xx
