Yowzers.....a big one!

Boys r us wrote: The snow is just beginning to fall, all of the schools had announced being closed today before the first snowflake ever fell. They're calling for about 10 inches of snow today and another 4-6 tonight.

I'm soooooo excited!!! I love snow..well..the first big one..then I'm over it!

3xsthefun replied: Please keep it over your way! laugh.gif I am still not ready for that much snow yet.

They are calling for 4- 7 inches here today, but haven't seen anything yet.

Boys r us replied: Tina, where are you guys in WV?

Normally our area of Virginia that boarders west va gets a lot more snow than we do here in the city, but today they're saying we're going to get the brunt of it in the Roanoke Valley. Roanoke is sort of like a big bowl surrounded by mountains, a lot of times the mountains keep the weather out, but once a system gets in the mountains keep it in here! dry.gif

3xsthefun replied: We live in Monroe County, we are about 30 mins from Greenbrier County and usually they get more snow then us.

We are about 1 1/2 hours from Roanoke.

Boys r us replied: TINA!!!!!!! Why haven't we made arrangements to meet? I didn't know we were so close!
You know..come spring time and it's nice out, we'll have to figure something out!! That would be fun!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I have a friend in D.C and she was telling me the same thing. ohmy.gif

Stay warm! And if you get too much, please send some our way...oh, wait a minute...I think we are getting some on Weds anyway. redbounce.gif

3xsthefun replied: Yes, that would be nice to plan something in the spring.

LOL! I didn't realize we lived so close together either.

luvbug00 replied:

yeah!! keep it over there!! here in the northern area of virginia we are still open for school but snow is still a no show.

jcc64 replied: We had our first real snow before Thanksgiving. Got another one over the w/e. Calling for another one tonight. I love snow- we ski and board- the more the better. (although by March, i'm over it)

mckayleesmom replied: I HATE SNOW dry.gif

A&A'smommy replied: I'm SOOO jealous!!!!! It has been crazy here hot one day FREEZING tbe next wink.gif

Boys r us replied:
Well, it should be headed your way by later today, it's in full force now here!

moped replied: Ahhhhhhhh the only time schools ever close here is if there is FEET of snow and the temperature with windchill is colder than -40 which is NASTY.

I hope the kids enjoy!

We are getting a cold one today too - temperature with windchill this afternoon is supposed to be -31 in FARENHEIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

coasterqueen replied: Man! Why can't we get snow like that. dry.gif We never get the fun! happy.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied:
It is supposed to rain here and get down to 28 Wednesday night so probably just ice. I have alot of family in DC and they were telling me it is FREEZING there right now!

Nichole~ I grew up (til I was 9) in Virginia and I ADORE the Roanoke area! My uncle is in Richmond.

We used to go pick apples every year in southern Va!And I always wanted to go to the Skyline Caverns(I think that was the name) It is so pretty there! Oh I LOVE the Blueridge!!! smile.gif

Boys r us replied: Abbie, where did you live in VA? I've lived in Roanoke for my entire life with the exception of 1 year of living at the beach and a year and a half with a house here and a house in Richmond (b/c of Rick's work).

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
You're right. They are predicting a "Light Mix" dry.gif It will be nasty for a few days.

They call off school around here everytime the weather changes. rolleyes.gif Of course we aren't used to ice and it's best that there are fewer people on the roads. tongue.gif

Jess~ I know what you mean about the changes in temps. Friday it was in the 60's, Saturday it was close to 90. ohmy.gif

My2Beauties replied: Man, I love the first snow, but then after that I get sick of it. I love it up until the streets get slushy and gross! LOL laugh.gif The county schools here close a lot for snow but here in the city limits, Jefferson County, they don't hardly ever close for snow unless there is like more than 6 inches or something. We usually get one real big snow per winter season!
