Zack is Sick!

And not worry about anything until the morning. Of course, the more I thought about everything and listened to Zack the more nervous I got, so we took him to the ER last night. They checked him and said he had an ear infection, and was wheezing, was not dehydrated, but they took chest x-rays to check for pneumonia and did some breathing treatments there. The x-ray came back fine, and the breathing treatments seemed to work, so they sent us home with an inhaler with a spacer, and some amoxicillin. We were told to follow up with our regular ped. today, we did and Zack has no ear infection, but is still wheezing a little, so we have to continue with the inhaler and on top of everything he has a stomach bug giving him diareah. I can't wait till he is back to his normal self.

jcc64 replied: I'm sorry he's sick. As far as conflicting opinions about the ear infections, sometimes there can be fluid in the ears, but that doesn't necessarily mean an infection. Some drs are more aggressive in this situation than others. Does Zach have asthma? My older son went through this same type of thing when he was younger, and I got all upset that he was going to have chronic asthma, and he outgrew it. But I know how scary it can be. It's all very treatable, as long as you know what to look for.

booey2 replied: Hugs to you and Zach, he sounds just like Thomas did, but Thomas is now much better and only needs the inhaler for a couple more days then I can stop. Our doc said to make sure the humidity in the house was quite high til the summer and not to rely on the furnace for a good level of humidity so we went out and bought a new vapourizer and boy is it great. As long as I run it at 45% humidity we all sleep great and wake up feeling freshed. You might want to look into a good one. Get better soon Zack.

dolfinrse replied: Thanks Everyone! He is pretty much back to his normal getting into trouble self. LOL He is back eating and drinking and tearing our house apart.
