mummy2girls wrote: What do you feed the kids in your dayhome. Im now starting to run out of idea and its being broing because im repeating my meals each week...LOL
i usually feed for lunch... kraft dinner , goulash, meatloaf, shaken bake chicken drumsticks, potatoes, all kinds of vegies, rice, spagetti, mr.noodles, egg salad , chicken strips, hamburgers, fries, hot dogs. soups...
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Hmmm, whatever I buy usually.
We had steamed cauliflower carrots and radishes today, with some potatoes and chicken...because that's what we had for dinner last night.
I'm not big on feeding the kids easy stuff... because that's all the parents can get the kids to eat at night... so hot dogs and kraft dinner etc are rare around here...
meatloaf... pasta with cream of celery soup... pasta with cream of mushroom soup and frozen peas... roast beef... ham... sausages with rice and shrimp... fish with buttered noodles... stews... curries... casseroles... we eat dinner type foods for lunch... we're not big dinner eaters usually, we have something light...
sorry that wasn't much help, was it...
kit_kats_mom replied: The lady who used to watch K had a monthly meal calendar that she used. She just started over every month. It may have been in that package of stuff I sent you awhile back.
K's school sends home a menu. Usually it's something like beenie weenies, milk, cheese and roll meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll and milk grilled cheese, carrots, fruit and milk
etc. If you want, I'll pick up the menu for October tomorrow, scan it and email it to you.
mummy2girls replied: no it was... i never though of stews... going to have to do that next week, and casseroles... sounds good to me
mummy2girls replied: thanks
Boo&BugsMom replied: I am on a federal food program so I have to have a guideline Breakfast: bread, fruit/veggie, and milk (all) Lunch: meat, bread, fruit, veggie, and milk (all) Snacks: bread or meat, fruit/veggie, juice/milk (2 of any of those)
I don't "cook" much because I don't have to time with running the preschool program portion and all, but I rotate meals every other week.
Some examples for lunch: chicken nuggets, corn dogs, hot dogs, fish sticks, PBJ, ham and cheese, chicken sandwiches, tater tot casserole, hamburgers, yogurt w/ string cheese (meat alternatives), grilled cheese, and cheese quesadillas. Oh, and of course mac and cheese.
All of those then I serve the side dishes with...fruit, veggie, milk, and bread product unless it's already included in the main meal, like sandwiches.
Breakfasts we have breakfast bars, granola bars, pancakes, waffles, breakfast cookies, oatmeal bars, english muffins, and a few other assorted stuff. All those I serve with a fruit and milk.
Snacks are random.
kit_kats_mom replied: I like the idea of making up a menu and then sending it home with the kids the first week of the month. That way, parents know what the kid will be eating so they don't make spaghetti for dinner on spaghetti day at your place.
kit_kats_mom replied: english muffin pizzas are always a hit with kids.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I use to do a menu but I found that was an added stressor I didn't need. Some people do and have no problem. I often sometimes will plan for things though and then not have it, so making a menu for me doesn't work. Or, if I have leftovers of something I want to use it up before it goes bad. In all, for me, I don't have to time to plan it out like that. Instead, I do write what we eat each day on each child's daily sheet that gets sent home. That way the parents know, but I still can be flexible with my meals.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Oh, we have those too!!! Forgot about that one. The kids love to help make them too!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Ok here's my menu for these last 2 weeks, as well as the last two days and today
Monday: Sheppards Pie with slice of bread Tuesday: Italian sausage, sliced, with mashed potatoes and green beans Wednesday: rotini pasta with cream of mushroom soup and frozen peas/carrots Thursday: Ham and Penne Lasagna Friday: Stew soup: basically leftover sausage, diced, with green beans and leftovers from wednesday... mixed together with a couple other things like rice... served with slice of bread
Monday: Ham casserole (sort of like hamburger helper, but with ham) Tuesday: Beef stirfry Wednesday: pan-fried pollock (fish) with rice and asparagus Thursday: Berry-Baked Chicken with baked potatoes and steamed carrots Friday: Lentil curry
Monday: Clam chowder Tuesday: Tuna casserole Wednesday: Chicken with baked potatoe cubes in onion soup mix and steamed cauliflower, radishes and carrots
mummy2girls replied: I do that i make a weekly menu send it home and i also write the weeks menu on a board by the entrance way so they know and dont forget!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Oh and all my above stuff is really easy to make... and usually already made, just re-heated...
