mummy2girls wrote: Did they experience tummy pain.. cramping feeling? and if so how long did it last?

Jenna had her suregry on monay morninga nd its now thursday evening and she is stillt he same. she is ok on the codiene during the day but in the evening i find it doesnt work as well:( Im just getting worried here! im not sure if i should get her checked again if she is still like this by sunday evening...

her throat is sore but she barely complains about that not as much as the tummy... i know its the blood from the surgery still in there because she hasnt puked it up or pooped it out yet:(

julesmom replied: I had my tonsils out as an adult and it hurt terribly. But was so worth it in the end.

I was on tylenol w/codeine, but got bad headaches from the codeine. So I went to plain tylenol and dealt with it. I know your dd is little, but could you try giving her tylenol and motrin or advil on and off? The codeine is probably constipating her and giving her a stomach ache. Maybe try giving her some apple juice or something like that to get her bowels moving.

Hope she feels better soon!

mummy2girls replied:
no i have to give the codiene.. because she gets the severe cramps from the blood in her tummy( she had the pain before prescribed codiene) and she can hardely breathe because of the pain and will not eat or take in liquids at all. so she needs this. I know she is probably constipated because of it and uim trieing to get that fixed.. but i feel for her so much... tylenol on its own does not work.

maestra replied: I had my tonsils out when I was 19, and I remember feeling really bad for about 2 days. My stomach bothered me then, but once I started to eat a little, that seemed to help. Well, as much as you can call mashed potatoes food.

gr33n3y3z replied: Johnny had both of his out but he puked right after surgery
the Dr said it wouldnt have bothered him any way bc he only lost about a table spoon of blood tops

I hope Jenna feels better I wish she would do one or the other so her belly would stop hurting her

Kentuckychick replied: Poor baby, I hope she feels better soon I know those tummy cramps are a huge pain.

I know that for me personally medications with codeine actually cause stomach pain... so that could perhaps be a possible cause.

Other than that, with my wisdom teeth 3 years ago when I swallowed lots of blood I just steered clear of any dairy products for several days (no milkshakes, milk, ice cream, etc... ) because dairy + blood = ew. I drank lots of clear fluids to flush it out and LOTS of orange Hi-C (this was actually recommended when I had surgery years ago as a remedy for queasiness/icky tummy and it works really well)

I would think that by now the blood would be gone. I wouldn't expect you to actually see it come out.

Good luck though, she's in my thoughts!

sparkys2boys replied: No advice, but wanted to say I hope she is feeling better soon. hug.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Poor thing. I was young, but I remember it. My tummy hurt because I was HUNGRY. I mean... I hadn't eaten anything but posicles and jello for a while... maybe have her drink some pediasure or something.

Lots of mushy foods. Try to bribe her... tell her if she eat "so much" mashed potato or soup, she gets a lollipop or something that she could enjoy just as much.

Applesauce goes down nice and smoothly... maybe you can add a teaspoon of prune juice to it or something.

lisar replied: Lexi had hers removed. Honeslty she was fine the day after surgery. She was back to complete normal the day after. All kids are diffrent though.

lisar replied:
I like this advice. Sounds like a good idea to me.

mummy2girls replied:
She does eat... yougurt, ice cream, pudding, mashed potatoes( cooled off), soup( cooled off) rice krispies cereal( soaked until soft)... and she still is in pain.

mummy2girls replied:
She started this severe stomach ain way before she started the codiene.. the codiene is the only thing that takes the pain away so i know it doesnt give her pain. because all this happened way before taking it or even given the prescription. i just dont want her drugged on codiene all the time... poor girl! Im just worried about her...

and yes teh doc /surgeon said it will start to come out in her stools so they will be black, she will vomit some up as well. and nothing...

Kentuckychick replied:
Poor thing. Well I'm glad at least the medicine is helping the pain. Has she used the bathroom at all? Perhaps the doctor could suggest something for that.

As for the blood, I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I've had doctor's tell me the same that the blood would eventually work itself out in the stool and possibly discolor it a bit... but it might not be very noticable.

I think my biggest concern at this point would be if she's eating all of that and not actually using the bathroom... that could be a problem because it's not giving her anyway to get the blood out.

Otherwise I'm sorry she's feeling so poorly still.

grapfruit replied: Can you give her a suppository to make her go to the bathroom?? I know I had a friend who's brother was constipated (he was like 10) and had super severe stomach cramps from it. He actually has a strange disorder where he is prone to constipation (I don't think it IBS) so he has to drink prune juice regularly.

Have you tried the typical? Prune juice, apple juice, etc??
