are they serious?

kit_kats_mom wrote: Honestly, I am flabbergasted that I just had this conversation on the phone with a client.

Her: Hi, I'm the secretary to the Director of special ed at _____ school. We received our lists of eligible students and the director and I have a question (so there are two of them working on this problem?)

me: yes, how may I help you ma'am?

Her: well there is a column that is titled Date of Birth and under it are a bunch of numbers. We aren't sure what they mean.

me: could you please read me off one of the numbers from your list.

Her: sure 19840614

me: that is the date of birth in Century, century, year, year, month, month, day, day format. So it reads ninteen-eighty-four, June fourteenth. huh.gif

Her: oh. So that's probably the same format as numbers under the eligibility dates?

me: (shocked that she arrived at that conclusion all by her lonesome) yes, that's right.

Her: ok, thanks!

Um, remind me to NEVER EVER EVER send my child to school in Missouri. If they had two people looking at this and couldn't figure it out...well, I'm scared frankly. blink.gif

moped replied: YIKES!!!!!!

Kaitlin'smom replied: well at least your client got it, the one I had to deal with this moring still did know comprehend anything, and I have to call her back, oh I pray for an answering machine

TANNER'S MOM replied: I am dying laughing..

A&A'smommy replied: OMG that is shocking and really sad!! ohmy.gif blink.gif Anyway their schools are usually a lot better than that!! ohmy.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
I dunno. I deal with a lot of school districts there and granted, I usually talk to the special ed people but I've had a lot of really silly stuff said & done by them. This one was the kicker though.

A&A'smommy replied:
geez.... just be glad you aren't working with Alabama it is much worse here!

moxee24 replied: rolling_smile.gif Isn't it just supposed to be the children that are Special Ed??? rolling_smile.gif

ammommy replied: Ok, now, to be fair (and that's the trait I'm working on right now) the date is put in backwards from the way most people see it. Very few people list the year first. Unless, of course, it is common for this form then iamwithstupid.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
no, I understand that but wouldnt most people see that it's listed under the heading of date of birth & maybe take the time to noodle it out? tongue.gif I may not have recognized it at first but after looking at the column title & a few examples I suspect I'd get it unsure.gif

ammommy replied:
Well, now your assuming common sense, silly goose tongue.gif
Yes, it took me a couple of times, but I figured it out.

ions_momma replied: rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

JAYMESMOM replied: I am blonde but it only took me a second. With seeing so many forms and people always do things differently I can't belive she hasnt seen that before. rolling_smile.gif

redchief replied: I'm afraid my sarcastic side would have kicked in. Good job!
