belly line?

I have heard that mommies pregnant with boys don't get one all the time...is this true?

DansMom replied: I can still see the trace of mine 14 months after Daniel was born---I had a very pronounced linea negra. At the hospital someone called it a "boy line". I wonder what causes it? I didn't get stretch marks---I wondered if maybe I got the line instead

victoire2002 replied: I got the linea negra, too. It's caused by the excess hormones you produce while pregnant. It's very similar to the "pregnancy mask" that some women seem to get, where their faces are darker in certain areas. I also got that. I haven't heard about it being an indicator for sex, but my best friend got it as well, and she has twin girls. Hmmmmmm.......

haha i wish that was true!!! i think my line was darker with the boys than it was with Jade you could see it faintly before i "popped" but once the big ol santa belly was around it got darker and darker until birth.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I had a faint line with Jade. It started to show up later in pregnancy and it has faded to nothing by now. I did get strech marks that actually start above my belly button because I carried so high. I think my pregnancy mask was worse. The freckles on my face got really dark. I look at pictures of me just after Jade was born and I can't believe how dark they were. They just faded in time.
