birth control

Kaitlin'smom wrote: what type of birth control have you been on? did you like it? why? and what side effecs are there or did you get?

I have had several bad reaction to the pills and I need some sort of BC, not looking to get pg anytime...cant say ever but I really dont plan on more kids. So I need to do something for thoes rare times we are in bed together.

Boys r us replied: I'm not on anything right now. =the bc I liked the best was the Ortho Evra patch, it was easy and I didn't have to think about it except for once a week.
I had to quit taking it though b/c my migraines got worse when I was on it. I wouldn't think though that it would outright give someone migraines, it just intensified the ones I already had.

MomToMany replied: I'm on nothing right now. I don't want any hormone-type BC since I'm BFing. I don't want anything interfereing with that.

I've been on the Pill and the Shot, and hated both of them. Since they are hormones, they can really mess you up. I gained lots of weight with the shot. It took me a long time to get pregnant again (that's why there's such a big gap between Quentin & Ethan).

I would suggest maybe a diaphram or sponges with gel, or just usig condoms if you don't want any hormones. If you want something more long-term, Norplant might be a good choice, but it has hormones.

Sorry I'm not more help.

My2Beauties replied: I've been on the pill for years (well there was those few months I wasn't that Hanna was conceived) but I never had a problem until now. You've seen my posts I'm sure. I get bad headaches, Ive had breakthrough bleeding, and now I think it's making me have mood swings. I'm waiting on a call from my gyno as we speak!

Kaitlin'smom replied: see thats just it I really dont want anything with hormones in it, thats what messes me up, terrible weight gain, moody, and let not forget it never got me regular. thats why I wont go back on any kind of pill..........plus I hate trying to remember to take one everyday, I could remember that but the same time....well forget that

Lollie replied: Hi... wink.gif

I was on Triphasil before my pregnancies and then I changed to a lighter version of the pill....mmm..can't think of the name off-hand. rolleyes.gif

The reason why I had to change was cos it made me nauseaous, gave me headaches and made me gain weight quickly and that went away after I changed my pill.

Mmmm...well,that pill obvously didn't work well for me.We were however using condoms for a time when during the period when Bri was conceived. But I must admit we were a bit careless.... wub.gif

So now I think Im gonna stick with pregnancy as a contraceptive...LOL rolling_smile.gif

DansMom replied: I use the diaphragm and always have. Side effect: My skin is sometimes sensitive to the spermicide, a kind of burning. It washes away, but I still don't like it. Another minor downside is that you have to insert the diaphragm within an hour before the act and you should remove it 6-8 hours later (or when you get up in the am). Learning how to insert the disk properly takes a bit of practice too, though it's easy once you get the hang of it. The slight loss of sponteneity is a minor inconvenience, especially at this stage of my life when my routines are pretty much set and intimacy is planned in advance.

The upside is: no hormones. That's a biggie for me, as I simply don't want to make artificial adjustments to my body's natural hormone levels. My mother was very against the pill for health reasons, and they were especially contraindicated for me because of clotting problems in my family.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I can't take anything with artificial hormones. My mother had breast cancer and it was hormone receptive. unsure.gif I take nothing. DH doesn't even wear a condom. ohmy.gif I guess we pretty much use the rhythm method and I have some natural hormone cream I use to keep me regular, etc. It also helps with the bloating and headaches.

AshleyRose replied: I went on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen for half a year and had bad mood swings and such. Then I went on Sprintec which is the generic for Ortho-Novum and did much better on that! I think the changes in the dose amount every week that I had on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen was what made things worse. I always feel a little weird on BCs. Thats my experience..

3xsthefun replied: I'm on the patch right now...I like it pretty good.

I have no really had any problems from the patch.

A&A'smommy replied: I'm on the shot and I don't like it I have been really moody, I have had spotting, and bad cramps when I'm suppose to have a period so at my app. in January I'm going to ask for the patch.

smullin replied: I know with the depo shot it can be hard at first when you get on it. I was on it for four and half years and I actually was going to go off it because of the bleeding and everything and the suddenly it all went away. No period for four years. I didn't even feel like a women. I think I wouldn't go back on it though because it took forever for body to get back to normal which the doctor told me nothing about. Problay just try to remember to take the pill. That was the reason why I went on the shot in the first place. I have heard many good things about that patch but I had heard many good things about the depo when I went on it. the patch is so new that you never know is my opinion. blink.gif I would recommend the pill and then try different ones so you know what worked with you. the pill can help with more then just preventing pregnancy. wub.gif

maestra replied: I had the mirena IUD, and loved it. I will be getting it again after this one is born. It does have hormones in it, but not as high a dose as you would get from the pill. I had very light periods, every other month. wavey.gif

moped replied: Ia m currently on DIANE, for BC and for my post pregnancy skin probs!!!!

Stacimonkey replied: We're using condoms right now, but I wanted to comment on the patch...Everyone that I have known IRL has gotten prego on it! NOw grated that that's about 5 people out of millions that take it lol, but that's enough to convince me wink.gif A few of them smoke, and that hurts the chances too lol! Just watned to let yall know!

redchief replied: We use children for birth control.... biggrin.gif
Just kidding wink.gif

I had a vasectomy about 10 years ago

5littleladies replied: Condoms here. Ok nothing right now since we are trying to get pregnant but when we aren't we use condoms. I don't use anything with hormones-I did for awhile and I got terrible headaches and leg cramps so I stopped taking them for that and other reasons.

coasterqueen replied: Between Kylie and this baby we just used condoms. After having Ashlyn we'll probably go back to condoms until we decide what we are going to do. I don't think I ever want to go back on a hormone BCP.

loveydad replied: YOU MEAN THEY MAKE THAT KIND OF THING!? Where can I get this wonder pill!?
My girlfreind lied to me. LOL
Lmao.

LovingmyBoriqua replied: I was on Ortho Tricylin which was birth control pills i didnt really like the pill because made me feel like I had to puke i hate pills ( yuck)... I mean they help to regulate my period because i had periods that skip that was since i received my first period. Like i would get a period in Jan and i wont get a period til June they would skip and my periods would be heavy than I got on the pill and they help regulate my cycle my mother found out i was having sex so rush me to the dr thats when i was issue the ortho tricylin....

Im on the shot now the only thing i like about the shot is that has prevent pregnancies from me. But weight gain, gain, spotting, long periods, and painful joints is what side effects I have. but everyone is different. I dislike and like the shot. So far I dont want any kids right now because, my husband is due out the military a couple more months and right now i dont plan on having more because i want to return with medical school and with my son with delay i want to work with his speech delay.
