breech babies?

Mommy2BAK wrote: So- I had my 24 week check up last Thursday and the doctor did an ultrasound (which by the way this doc/midwife is ultrasound happy, I have gotten one at almost every appt... but I surely don't mind) and said the baby is still breech. Last time she said he was breech but that it was very normal at that stage (20 weeks), but she acted as if she was suprised that he was still breech... I had so many questions on my mind going into that appt that I really didn't think much about it until now, days after.... so does anyone know if its still normal at this stage for a baby to be breech?

By the way~ I had gained 7 pounds since my last appt wacko.gif but on the bright side I've actually only gained 1 b/c I was 140 when I got preggo then got extremely sick for 5 months, and now I weigh 141. laugh.gif

MyBabeMaddie replied: Oh I definitely wouldn't worry! Madison was breach until about 34 weeks, my doctor said she wouldn't have gotten concerned even at 36 weeks. Even if the baby doesn't turn on its own, there are ways to manipulate it from the outside! Seriously though don't worry!

MyBabeMaddie replied: Oh I forgot to say congrats on only gaining one pound so far I am insanely jealous I think I had gained a good 40/45 lbs by then

Mommy2BAK replied: Aww thanks I feel so much better now!

MyBabeMaddie replied: I know its scary, I remember at my 34 week appointment I was freaking out thinking i'd need a c-section and what if something bad happened you know, and my doctor was like "JUST CALM DOWN SARAH" and by my next appointment she was head down and ready to go

Twelve Volt Man replied: I wouldn't worry. My son is now one month old. Five days before he was due, the doctor discovered that he was breech, and we scheduled a C-section. On the morning of the C-section, the doctor checked my wife again, and discovered that he had flipped back into the proper position. The doctor induced her but she ended up having a C-section for other reasons. My point is that they can surprise you! Good luck!

Mommy2BAK replied:
Oh wow!!! That is crazy, and I feel so much better, thanks guys!

Danalana replied: Guess who was breech?
It rhymes with "Schmana" emlaugh.gif

Yep, my mother had me on an army base, and she didn't know she couldn't have drugs either. And then there I was...butt first thumb.gif On the plus side, i was tiny.

EvesMom replied: I really would worry at all until around 36 weeks. At 36 weeks Jesse was still breech. The doc scheduled me for an external version , but I went into labor 3 days before the appointment dry.gif So I had an emergency c-section.

boyohboyohboy replied: my first son was breech the entire time, and he didnt turn till he was ready to be delivered

lisar replied: Lexi was breech. They tried to do the inversion (turn her from the outside) with an epiderial and OMG!!! the pain was unbearable. They gave up becuase if they would have continued they would have broke her leg and damaged my kidney.

indywndy_04 replied: My baby was breech around that time and the doctor said he wont worry about it until around 32 weeks, he had turned around way before then. I think you have time for him to turn. smile.gif I'm glad you are getting so many u/s, they are soo fun!!! smile.gif

moped replied: Oh I think they can flip at anytime and you have lots of time for him to flip.

Now you must be VERY tall or something, because from pics I would have put you at about 110 pounds.........

I bet my last dime he will flip in about 8 weeks!

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Neither Andrew or Allie stayed head down until about 36 weeks. I was so stretched out from them being sideways! wacko.gif My doctor said that up until 35-36 weeks they have plenty of room to flip on their own, and after that they can still do it but sometimes they'll do an external version or try some other way to get them to flip.

Mommy2BAK replied:
well thanks Jen! That makes me feel much better, but I am 5'6 or 5'7, I can't ever remember tongue.gif
