bunnies!
cameragirl21 wrote: ok, so i got these bunnies for Easter pics for this morning and i was meant to return them on Monday but they are for sale and one of my business partners, at whose home i took the pictures fell in love with them and decided to buy them. i'm bummed that i won't have them all weekend but totally excited that they'll go to a good home and that i'll get to see them whenever i want. omg, you guys, in as much as i love animals i never understood why people keep bunnies as pets because i always thought they were boring BUT these guys are SOOOOOOOO cute and so much fun. i let them loose in the house and they scampered all around, it was hilarious to watch them. one of them would run super fast and then hop over my cat's food and water dishes like a track star doing hurdles. so my biz partner has two prepubescent sons who are so excited about having the bunnies and already named them Oreo and Shakira. i didn't realize boys would be into bunnies but the older of the 2, soon to be 14 had a friend come over who also was all over these bunnies. they make great pets i think, and require little care, you just have to keep their cages clean and feed them but they can hop all over your house and they're really no trouble and so much fun and sooooo cuddly, one sat one me while i watched Grey's last night and didn't move much for the whole hour, was just happy to be petted...my cat would NEVER sit still for that long or let me carry her around indefinitely...i highly recommend these guys as pets and was tempted to keep them myself but i already have a bit of a zoo. so of course now i have to show off the bunnies, even though they're not mine but here are some pics from this morning...the bunnies make great little models, no?

Calimama replied: So cute! The girls AND the bunnies!!
sparkys2boys replied: Love the pics!!!! So cute!! We have a pet bunny and they make wonderful pets!! Ours is a Jersey Woolie and is actually a show bunny.. we do not show it but it is trained for that. We got it at 6 months old and it had just won a blue ribbon. They are very easy to look after and get along well with cats which we have 1 of. We let it out in the house alot when we are home and then it has a cage. Great with the kids to.. ours loves to be held and cuddled by anyone..lol.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: So CUUUUTE!!!!!!!!!!
Ah CRAP I missed it!
redplaydoh replied: Wouldn't the bunnies leave little bunnie trails (poop) all over the house???
cameragirl21 replied: it wasn't that good, you didn't miss much IMO. you can see it again tonight at 8pm.
redplaydoh replied: I want to add I am SO in love with that little tan bunny with the white nose!
cameragirl21 replied: actually, you can litter train them. i thought they'd poop all over the house but they haven't done that...yet. one did pee at the lady's house but it went in the corner, not right in the middle of everything. they are classy animals.
3xsthefun replied: Cute!
gr33n3y3z replied: We have a house bunny and they are very clean animals and he is trained to go in his cage but he is getting old he is going to be 8 years old in April and he misses sometimes. I dont think I have a pic of him on this computer Ed might on his.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Cute. Looks like the girls and bunnies had a great time!
CantWait replied: Too stinkin cute.
redplaydoh replied: I'm REALLY curious about having a bunny as a pet. How the heck would you litter train a rabbit? Do they bite? What type of cage do you need if they're indoors? Are they cuddlers or tend to want to be loners? Do they chew wiring or other household items???
I'm trying hard to come up with a pet for the boys.
cameragirl21 replied: idk anything about litter training a rabbit but i can answer your other questions. these 2 have not tried to bite me at all. they haven't chewed anything either and i left them alone in the house, free to roam out of the cage all day, even when i was gone for a while. they're very cuddly and love to be held and cuddled. i imagine litter training them can't be difficult...these 2 aren't prone to going anywhere except their cage or a corner and they only went in the corner because their cage wasn't there (at someone else's house today). i think they make great pets and i think i may want one too! ETA--as to the cage, they just need a cage big enough to walk around in...if you go to any pet store they will show you a standard rabbit set up. you're better off with an indoor cage...my friend kept her rabbit in an outdoor cage and a coyote came and at it one night. not sure how he got into the cage but if the rabbit were inside he'd not have been someone's meal. Also, if you like that tan bunny that is a dwarf...they always stay very small, probably won't even get to be a pound in weight and they are known for their little round faces and short ears. just thought i'd let you know in case you want one like that. the other one is more fun though, tbh, although idk if it has anything to do with breed and might just be the different personalities of the bunnies. both are very soft and cuddly. Also, they didn't try to bite either of the children i photographed with them today and the little one (2 years old) wasn't as gentle as i (and the bunny) would have liked and she was holding it up by the front paws and all and they were manhandled like crazy today and they didn't try to bite at all.
cameragirl21 replied: ok, somehow that double posted...would a mod fix it for me please? thanks.
gr33n3y3z replied: We started out when he was a baby he was born in my bedroom him and his 3 other brother and sisters School project school bunnies LOL We had them for the weekend.
Needless to say I wanted him he was the runt.
I got bedding for cages and stated him in a box then we moved to a cage litter pan Rabbits hate to sleep in ther own mess so he started using this little corner pan then I just moved it a little by little near the slider and out the door on the deck He would go scratch at the door to go out and do his bussines and scratch when he wanted to come back in.
That lasted up to only a few years ago something scared him and he refuses to go out the slider even for treats.
He never bit anyone he likes to be held but only for short periods of time he is just getting to old and loves to be scratched all the time and rubbed.
He has chewed so many PS2 controllers and Eds alarm clock wires phone wires and lamp cords and vacuum cords. Oh and a few lap top power cords
He has shocked himself many of times and even burned his wiskers off one side of his face so they do never learn they are a 2 year old and always will be.
He is a male and we got him fixed so he would stop marking his areas. They charge the same as cats.
He only goes to the vet to get his nails clipped about 2 times a year at 10.00 a shot.
His food is another issue I buy the 5lb bags now which I used to buy 20lb bags but moths hatch in it so his 5lb bag cost 8.99 vs. 20lbs 14.00
You have to spend lots of time with them and they will let you know when play time is.
For cages metal with a slide out tray under the cage and the litter pan has to be cleaned once a week to a week and a half you will know when trust me.
Oh he loves to chew paper
Edited to say Buster weight is 8 1/2 lbs he use to be 10lbs
luvmykids replied: My mom had an Angora Rabbit, I don't know the process of actually litter training but he was He didn't even have a cage, when they had to leave they'd put him in the sunroom. He was great, never bit, no problems at all. But if he wanted attention he nudged your foot, he was adorable. The only con to his breed was the hair, like the name suggests, he had tons and tons and tons of it and had to be brushed daily or it got matted. You do have to be careful with wires and such though.
If you do want a cage for them, it's just a regular pet cage, big enough for them to turn around in, etc. with a pan underneath.
I'd love to get one for the kids when Bogie isn't around anymore
luvmykids replied: Kylie just saw these pics and said "Aw, I want a bunny" and Macie said "I do NOT want a bunny but I want that dress!"
redchief replied: Meet Buster. As Lisa said, he's getting old, but he's still energetic and personable. He loves attention and likes to be pet. He'll let you pet him for hours. He doesn't bite, though he can be relentless if he's ready for some attention. He'll nudge you and run around your feet until you give him what he wants. If all of his other efforts at getting your attention fail, he's been known to grab a pant leg or sock and yank. Most people think bunnies don't make noise, but he does growl if he doesn't want to be bothered or he gets angry. If he's scared he'll thump one of his sizable hind feet. A large bunny thumping makes a lot of noise. Oh, he's a cross between a standard domestic and a lop eared giant, so he's got very large ears and like Lisa said, he weighs in at about 8 1/2 pounds, which is considered quite large for a rabbit.
redchief replied: This is a picture of Buster in his cage. Because he tends to be a little destructive when he's left alone, he stays in his cage when no one is home and at night. When we're all up and about at home, Buster is allowed to roam the house. Up until about a year ago he never defecated on the floor, but he's slipping a little now. Even at that it isn't really a big deal. Bunny excrement are small, hard pellets that easily vacuum without leaving anything behind. Oh, and if you have a bunny, or are thinking about getting one, they eat their excrement; it's normal. Doing that helps them keep a balance in their digestive tract. Bunnies will nibble on nearly anything, so if you're considering one as a pet, make sure all of your electrical cords, important papers and clothing are out of reach.
redchief replied: Buster loves candy, though it's not very good for him. Here he's scored a candy cane off the Christmas tree. He also loves anything green, maple leaves (one of his favorite times of year is when our maple starts to drop leaves in the fall), carrots (though lately he's been turning his nose up at those), Popsicles, and his absolute favorite treat is bananas, which surprises bunny experts we've spoken to. He also asks to go to bed between 10:00 and 11:00 every night. He prefers that either Katie or Erin put him to bed, but he'll allow anyone. His favorite toys are two small bells that he has in his cage. He also uses his bells to get our attention when he thinks it's time for him to get out of his cage.
MoonMama replied: Awww those pics are SOOOOOO sweet!
Ed and Lisa summed it up pretty good....I have a Holland Lop and he is the sweetest little guy ever! I'll try to post a pic tomorrow, I don't have any on my laptop.
ETA: The only thing he does that annoys the living daylights out of me is...he LOVES to try to eat my Crocs (the shoes). He's so obsessed with them, they almost all have little bunny teeth marks in them but you have to look close to see them.
A&A'smommy replied: I JUST saw this!!! CUTE pictures!!!
redchief replied: Apparently rubber products taste like candy to them. They're almost irresistable to a rabbit. I have a rubber handle on the top of my laptop bag and he's shaved it almost all the way around, like eating off a corn cob.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Awww those pictures are adorable!
MoonMama replied: I'm sorry Ed but...
redchief replied: Heheh... nothing to be sorry for. The rubber handle on my laptop bag is expendable. Your Crocks on the other hand...
sparkys2boys replied: OK.. since we showing off our OTHER babies..lol.. here is thumper in my siggy. Yes, I know.. thumper.. the kids named him!!!! He is small about 4-5 lbs and this is about as big as he well get. He's very very tame and loves to be held and as you can see in the siggy will let you do darn near anything with him..like put him in an easter basket!!! He loves banana's and carrots and needs to be brushed often to keep out knots. we let me out when we are home but goes to his cage other then that. He does not chew, except at the flowers on a mat we have..lol.. crazy bunny!! Anyone that wants a calm pet.. these are it. Like I said beofre he is a Jersey Woolie.
redchief replied: Very cool! Is it common for that breed to be short-eared too?
He's cute.
Calimama replied: LOL
msoulz replied: How cute! So which one did they name Oreo??
As usual, your pictures are beautiful!!!!
cameragirl21 replied: thanks, Mary! they picked up the bunnies earlier today and i'm suffering from MAJOR empty cage syndrome. i'm seriously thinking of getting a bunny now...or maybe two.... btw, everyone's bunnies are soooo cute! they really are very cool animals, always sweet and always happy to be cuddled AND they never pee or poop on you, at least these two didn't.
sparkys2boys replied: Yup.. all purebred's have the short ears!!! He cost us a fortune but the kids LOVED him.. so wadda do..lol!!
