car seat recommendations - please
boyohboyohboy wrote: ok, we are ready to trade up to the next seat soon. we are moving out of the infant one and I need some recommendations on the newest one for the nice plush convertable ones.. we usually bought the alpha omega, but i hear a lot lately about newer ones evenflo makes one that is better for side impact.. anyone have a newer one they just love?
lovemy2 replied: Mine isn't the newer version but we have an Evenflo - can't for the life of me remember the model - I will look and post a link but its awesome because it has a dial on the side - you strap them in turn the dial and it tightens up to where you want it - when you get them out you push a lever on the dial and pull to loosen it - I love it - I will find a link and post it...
MommyToAshley replied: I am not sure if you are aware, but we have some product reviews of car seats on Parenting Club. The reviews are from members here. We just put them on a page since it was a frequently asked question. Here's the link:
Car Seat Product Reviews
Or you can get to it from the Resources tab at the top of the page.
lovemy2 replied: Here it is - this is the new version - basically the same as ours - it has the styrofoam, etc.

Opps not sure why the link didn't work but you can copy and paste it into your browser....
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Johnny is currently in the Triumph and ahs been since he was 1 month old so obviously rear facing. Katy and MAtt are in http://www.epinions.com/content_218900172420 I really like it. and Johnny has used it once when I forgot his seat in MIL's car He fits great and I would have no issue putting him in it all the time...but the Triumph makes him taller and I am weird so think he wants to be more even with his siblings
boyohboyohboy replied: what a cool idea, no i wasnt aware this was there! thanks
boyohboyohboy replied: christine that is the exact one i was just looking at but the reviews for it on the babiesrus web site were not that good. but it does look nice and comfy. and what you described sounds nice. i am going to see if i can see one in the store. the one lady wrote that the strap that should be across the waist is across her sons chubby legs..do you find that it fits right?
jcc64 replied: I'm a huge fan of the Britax Roundabout, which they can use up to 45lbs. It's made very well, straps never twist, materials used are sturdy, very comfy- just an all around solid carseat. It's pricey, but the way I look at is- with the amount of use it will get, a carseat is not a place I mind spending extra $$$. I can skip a new outfit, a meal in a restaurant, or some other meaningless purchase, and make up the difference between a Britax and a cheaper model. Worthy tradeoff, imo.
boyohboyohboy replied: i couldnt agree more but i want to find one that fit both him and the car just right. and the safety laws are always changing so i wondered what was new
lovemy2 replied: The straps and everything on ours are always right where they are supposed to be - both my kids were out of the bucket seats pretty quick because of their reflux and this seat was great even when they were small - it also adjusts how far it leans back - KWIM? I love the seat and don't remember the one I have which is 6 years old ever having bad reviews - I like the styrofoam in it, etc. - we also have the roundabout in DH's car - I like it and I know it has great reviews but I think the Evenflo is more comfortable, fits in my car/van better, etc......

I love my Britax carseats and will move up to a Marathon when we need a new one. I think they are the best car seats on the market. JMO but there you have it
coasterqueen replied: I agree, love the Britax. Although, our straps twist like crazy.
PrairieMom replied: We have 4 of the alpha Omega, and we really like them. I bought the convertible ones that go from rear facing to high back booster and have used them for all stages and have had good luck with them. Although, the alpha omega rear facing takes up a LOT of room, and I don't think it can be done in a small car.
