flirtycuddle replied: We usually bbq steak here but if we dont have charcole we marniade it and then put it in the oven on a broil pan at 400 for like 45mins to an hour depending on how thick and what kind

grapfruit replied: I usually make it in the oven under the broiler too...Make sure the rack is down low, you don't want it up close to the element.

I smear it w/butter (probably not the most healthy way to make it!) and put Season Salt and garlic salt and what ever looks good in my cupboard. I just cook it slow checking it every now and again. If you cut it open make sure you put a pad of butter in the cut so it doesn't dry out.

The only other way I can think of is on the grill!

holley79 replied: Do you have a little grill or like a Foreman Grill? I usually get a good cut of steak (like a T Bone or a Ribeye). Those kind I don't marinade.

You can also take a London Broil. Marinade it in something you both like. I would preheat your broiler pan. Move your racks to the lowest setting. Place your steak onto the hot pan to let it sear. After 5 minutes flip it to sear the other side.

Hope you both enjoy your dinner. hug.gif

sparkys2boys replied: it's really yummy done in the crockpot with onion soup mix also.. just throw in the steak, add maybe 1/4c of water mixed with the soup mix.. let it cook on low all day, you can also add carrots and potatoes to this too, just add them on top. I usually just peel and half the potatoes and then make the carrots into med sized spears. In the end it is sooooo tender and cooked with the veggies moist, and gravy at the bottom.

coasterqueen replied: The only way, IMO happy.gif , to cook steak is to grill it. yummy.gif We season ours with garlic salt and lawry's, grill it until it's WELL done (we don't do pink happy.gif ) and then while it's still hot I brush a tiny bit of butter on it, just because we like it that way.

yummy.gif yummy.gif I think we'll have steak for dinner tomorrow night. We are having roast tonight.

boyohboyohboy replied: come to think of it i wonder if i dont have the rack all the way down...
i will check that
and what is the best cut? a london broil?

stella6979 replied: Personally, I think the only way to cook a steak is on the grill. smile.gif A-1 sells some great marinades.

lisar replied:
Thats they way we like it to. No pink well done. Grilled....

lisar replied:
I like T-bones but my dh really likes rib-eyes.

coasterqueen replied:
Ok, giving my opinion again tongue.gif ....the only real good cut IMO is filet mignon. That is the only steak I'll eat....well unless my farmer is out of it, then I sacrifice my good taste for another cut. happy.gif

holley79 replied:
T Bones or Ribeyes are what we like. london broils are better oven steaks.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I'm too lazy to grill steak... I just bake it or pan fry it laugh.gif

redchief replied: Unless you've chosen a very tender cut of meat like prime or choice tenderloin (fillet mignon) or sirloin, it's difficult to grill to well done and still have it tender. Even tenderloin and sirloin in select grade will come out tough if grilled to well done.

I nearly always grill steak outside, but the oven's broiler can be used. I like the taste of the steak so I try to season lightly with either salt and pepper or light blackening seasoning. Since you cook your steak well done you might want to consider a little bit of MSG to help in tenderizing in dry cooking. I like my steak medium rare to rare. To cook well done in the broiler, drop the rack a notch and cook for 10 to 12 minutes per side depending on the thickness of the steak. That should about do it.

If you're using less tender cuts of meat, consider marinating. I found a neat site with a large variety of marinades here. Good luck! smile.gif

ZandersMama replied: I find the only way to get it cooked well and still tender is the slow cooker. mmmmmmmmm gotta go head to the grocery store happy.gif

PrairieMom replied: We always grill steak. I sprinkle it with garlic powder and onion powder and meat tenderizer, then marinate it with Worchester sauce for about 6 hours. yummy!

mom2my2cuties replied: For steaks we cant handle any pink, I just can't swing the gamey taste of the meat.

What we do, is we will take and make a marinade with Olive Oil, butter (for the yum-o) and the steak rub Sam's carries...

Broil about 10 minutes each side.

luvmykids replied: IMHO the only way you'll get a tender steak when you cook it to well done is with the more expensive cut to begin with, filet mignon, ribeye, tbone, porterhouse. Personally I love the ribeye, they have a lot of fat so they have great flavor and are super tender.

I use the Montreal Steak rub, broil on each side about 10 minutes for no pink. You can check it every so often by just cutting a little notch in the center to see how it's cooking.
