darn NJ MVC!!!! - Revoked our vehicle registrations!
EvesMom wrote: Ok, so last month we sold our Jaguar to my brother. So NJ MVC sends us a letter stating that we need to send them proof of insurance or surrender the plates for the jaguar, and our sebring (why the sebring I have no clue, it's been insured since 2004). Ok so we surrender the plates, and I mailed (express mail) the declaration page of our insurance. Would you know it they revoked us anyway. I have the proof of delivery, and it was signed for a week before it was due. We Had no idea it had been revoked until my step son got pulled over, and they impounded his car! I am so mad . Know we have to go to a MVC agency, and court! The employees at MVC must be incompitent fools!
luvmykids replied: That sucks! Hmmm, I guess motor vehicle divisions everywhere have somthing in common .....
MiniMomy replied: Omg, that sucks!!
b&bsmom replied: That does suck! You know you will go through all this hassle and wasted time to find out that you were right!! So frustrating!!
C&K*s Mommie replied: frustrating!! sorry about what you are having to go through.
CosmetologyMommy replied: Sorry about that! That sux! I hope it gets straightened out.
EvesMom replied: DH went to MVC today to find out what happened. As it turns out, they received the info we sent, entered it into their system, but forgot to change a code(can't remember what dh said it was). So the computer system automatically cancelled our registrations. We had to pay to get the car out of the impound and for towing , we are sending that bill to MVC. And MVC gave us a nice letter stating that the screwed up to bring to court. You know what the kicker is, we would not have know anything was wrong if my SS didn't get pulled over. Could you imagine if it happened to me with my DD?
C&K*s Mommie replied: It is their fault and they admit the error, but you still have to go to court. WOW I think it is pretty cut and dry, and I hope you guys are in and out without too much hassle, on your day of court.
gr33n3y3z replied: I hope it all goes well in court which it should But it still stinks that you have to go and pleed your case Wasit of your time and tax payers money they dont think about that ever. Just make sure when you go to court you have the reciept of you turning in the plates.
EvesMom replied: Yes we still have to go to court, MVC and police department are not affiliated. They issued a fine for driving on suspended registration, due to insurance non payment, WTH
EvesMom replied: Lisa, thanks for reminding me! I have to add that to the folder of stuff I have to bring.
redchief replied: Welcome to the kinder, gentler NJ MVC.
I have a friend who turned in a leased car to a dealership. Unfortunately he didn't remove the plates before he turned over the car, since the plates were registered to the vehicle manufacturer. He started getting summons from EZ Pass (the automated toll system here) because the dealer sold the car WITH his plates to someone in northern NJ, who was more than happy to accept anonymity.
He contacted the MVC about it stating he had a receipt for the return of the vehicle to the dealership and the dealer admitted the error of retselling the car without removing the tags. The MVC says it's still his problem since the tags are registered to him. He argued that the tags were, in fact, registered to the manufacturer and MVC says he is listed as responsible party by the MVC. They say it's his problem because the manufacturer is located out of state. Huh? He finally got clear of it when I told him to report the tags stolen. He had to name the dealership as the last known entity who had the plates. Too bad for them, but I told my buddy it was their fault the whole mess came up to begin with.
