does anyone goto picture people ? - ...if so, why?
bucky wrote: We, like many others I'm sure, get coupons from this place all the time for a free 8x10 or 10x13 w/ free sitting.. so last week we decided to go there and get a pic taken of our son in his halloween costume - the picture turned out well, and the people working there were nice.. but we couldn't believe the prices for picture packages that only come with one pose.
We normally goto JC Penny's for pictures and with the coupons you can find anywhere, and the portrait club membership - it's pretty cheap.
While we were in picture people the place was mobbed, it just amazed us that so many people were paying so much for pictures. Just though I'd ask if there's some benefit people see instead of going to Pennys, Sears, Target, WalMart, etc..
MommyToAshley replied: I liked the Picture People until they raised their prices. They usually take great pictures, I like their poses, and I love the fact that you don't have to wait two weeks or more for your pictures to come in. But, the ones we had taken for Ashley's 2 year Birthday will probably be the last ones we take from there since they raised their prices. They have a new coupon out that you get two poses free with the purchase of three poses, but I think I am still going to look for some place else.
redchief replied: We went there with friends last year. They had photos (2 poses) done for their 14 year old son. I thought they looked juvenile (so did the boy who had them done). Mom bought both poses anyhow. Poor kid!!!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I've never been. I have been tempted to go b/c of the coupons, but I don't care to spend that amount of $$. I'd rather go to a professional for that amount.
darrylswifeskylersmom replied: we dont have picture ppl here... byt my sister lives in oregon and she uses them I go to walmart to get pic taken cant aford antwhere else!
Jamison'smama replied: We go there--I like their simple backgrounds and they are just different than most other places. We also go to JC Penney and I realize the difference in price is huge. We usually only get the one free picture and one or two other sheets then we do larger amounts of pictures (for family etc) at JC Penney.
jolene555 replied: i have never liked them, ever since i went there with my niece and they were very impatient with her. they are always packed, and it isn't conducive to getting a 2 year old to settle down and smile when there are 30 screaming children right behind them. besides that they are ever expencive.
i love sears portrait studio. after you join their smile savers plan you get free sittings for 2 years (i've already saved $30+), and they have coupons to get a package of one pose (1 sheet of wallets, 1 sheet 5x7s, 1 8x10) for $5. the people at my sears are great, too. the last time i went in there we were the only ones, and we spent 2 hours there, and had 20+ shots to choose from. they printed out my pictures right there before i even had my checkbook out. they also have this new item called a portrait study - they are 20x20, and they take bits and pieces of the pictures and make a collage. right now they are only $99 and i am going to get one with georgia's 1st birthday pictures. i'll post the add's picture of it so y'all can see. i just think it's beautiful and elegant.
3_call_me_mama replied: We go to the picture people near my inlaws, but we only use the free coupon adn sometimes buy one maybe 2 sheets. They are expensive but the pictures are adorable, the wait is very short and you get the pictures in an hour. And since there isn't one near us we only go rarely. But if you buy a package at sears for the $5, then you still pay $15.99 for each additional sheet or pose that you want. and that can get VERY expensive too. We go to Olan Mills a lot and are a member of their birthday club adn watch me grow club, so we get 50% off whatever we buy, adn it ends up being about $5/ sheet if we buy a bunch. So far we've had the best experiences there over other palces we've gone. The only downfall, is you don't get to see what the pictures look like for 2 weeks, cause they don't have the digital screen thing like sears has, adn if you want more of one pose than they send you have to reorder adn it takes a while.
ediep replied: we go there. They are kind of expensive but the pics they have taken of Jason always turn out really nice. I use coupons and I only buy one sheet of each pose then I scan it on my computer and print out whatever sizes I want
TeagansMom609 replied: We have never used them because I thought it would be expensive. Well I went to Target instead because its practically in my back yard and I thought they would be cheap but I didnt think their prices were that great either. I will try JCPenney I think next time. Oh and Target hardly had any backrounds or props.
ctymom replied: We went to the picture people for Erica's 9 month portraits. We couldnt turn down any of the pictures and ended up spending $275!! (We didnt take the giant picture b/c it just wouldnt seem right having this huge picture of Erica only like a shrine to her lol) We bought a cutout of her sitting with a ladybug. Which is why we really went to them... we're all about ladybugs.
But.. we wont go there again, just too much money. We'll give Sears a try maybe this time around.

momof2girls replied: Jolene I LOVE this pic you attached its sooo cute!!
I went to the pic people for the first time last week I LOVE the fact you get your pics in a hour.... the pics were great I spent about 60 I can spend that at walmart.... I like JC penny and Sears too though.
bucky replied: I can see the part about getting pictures in an hour an advantage, but that's about it. We normall goto JC Penny's and have a Portrait Club membership (no sitting fee), and then use one of the $3.99 for a sheet coupons, and theres no limit on the sheets you can get with that. They have a 5 year membership now that gives you free smiles by wire with every visit.
If anyone hasn't checked out Penny's or Sears, ya may want to in order to save some money!
amynicole21 replied: See, I don't think they're so expensive? They're still $15/sheet, right? I get the yearly membership and never pay for sitting fees. I usually don't buy full sets either. Just one or two sheets of each pose. I love that place... I usually don't like the backgrounds from other places... very cheesy
MommyToAshley replied: They've gone up to $18 per sheet and the person that cashed us out told me that they are going up to $20 per sheet soon.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I miss picture people We used them for the big occasions 12 months, christms, first set of the kids together. And a couple of other times but I can't remember.
Now we only have Kiddie Kandids (for the fast pictures) then Target, JC Penny's (who is same as Target), Sears, Walmart.
I love both Picture people and Kiddie Kandids because they seem a little more intuned to doing kids. I walked out of Sears once when I took Katy in. We had had a horrible person do it the months before, she was a colic baby and i got her in and she wasn't crying she was just kinda sitting there, I said that was good enough we weren't going to get a smile out of her.....she never smiled but he refused to take the picture of her until she did. He spent 45 minutes of jumping at her and mking really loud noises, scaring the poop out of her until she screamed so bad we had to leave, the next month when they tried to give us the same photographer we left and wrote a letter to the head of the Sears studio to thell them about him. We have gotten a couple good pictures from the cheaper studios but usualy they are just kinda OK. I have never left from one of the *expensive kids studios* with pictures any less than wonderful.
