doing a army theme.. - any ideas??
sparkys2boys wrote: Ok, now that I am home full time I am going to re-do the boys bedroom(they have there own rooms but love being together so they are sharing one HUGE room) The two boys are all about army men etc so that is the theme I am using. They each have a army green comforter and a bedskirt that has helicopters, tanks etc on it already. I was thinking of either camflouging(sp) one wall and doing the others a shade of that green, or doing all the walls camoflauged. I am then also going to use a clear chaulking and put airplanes and tanks around the window and door frame. Then hang airplanes with clear wire from the ceiling. Over there breds I was planning on getting a camoflauged net?cover thing people use for making hunting blinds are making a canopy type thing over there beds. What do you guys think, or anyone have more ideas that I can use. I want this room to be super fun and cool for the kids. They live and breath army and war.

Our Lil' Family replied: Your ideas sound great!! Show us pics when you are done!!
grapfruit replied: I agree --^
I don't think I'd do all the walls in camoflauge only b/c it'd be super overwhelming. But one wall sounds super cool!
How about other camo type things (fake bushes/trees). Things that hunters/snipers use.
sparkys2boys replied: Do you mean paint that on the walls?? I have seen on decorating shows that they have made a tree in a corner on that wall(looks like a real tree) but I have no clue how to do it.. that would be SUPER cool to do
grapfruit replied: Either that or look for some sort of REAL looking tree. Like a duck blind of sorts. So they can hide and play behind it. But painting them on the wall would be cool too.
sparkys2boys replied: I was just putting some thought into that.. I wonder how an old tree would hold up in the house.. take and varnish it a few zillion times and then attach it to the wall.. hmmm.. wonder if it would keep drying out???? I want this to be a room of a lifetime for them..lol.. anything for your kids huh..??
grapfruit replied: I think it sounds super cool. Only problem you might see is sending them to their room when they're bad!
sparkys2boys replied: Ha!!! Never thought of that!!! Oh well, I just really want them to have a cool spot while they are small enough to enjoy that sort of thing.
3xsthefun replied: Sounds like a pretty neat idea!
Calimama replied: Maybe you could cammie netting on the celing. Looks like this:
sparkys2boys replied: this is actually the stuff I was going to use to make a canopy type thing over there beds with!!!
cameragirl21 replied: i think your ideas sound great, Sherri, the only thing is that if you paint the walls camouflage and their bedspreads are camouflage the room will be kind of dark unless you have lots of windows.
grapfruit replied: Maybe you can do three of the walls in a tan that matches the camo. Like desert camo. KWIM? I love that net BTW!
sparkys2boys replied: There bed spread are a solid green, the bed skirts are what has the tanks, planes etc!!! And they do have two large windows in there.. very big room so it is bright for them!
Calimama replied: Sounds like it's going to be a neat room! You'll have to take pictures after it's done.
