fly away hair??
kimberley wrote: Jade and i have the worst hair in the winter. any advice on how to keep it from being so fly away? i use the pantene winter care shampoo/conditioner but it doesn't help that much. tia.
Kaitlin'smom replied: not sure I understand how its bad, frizzy, tangles, wild.....can you explaina bit more so I can help.
kimberley replied: lol sure sorry. we both have very straight, fine hair. in the winter it gets staticky (is that a word?? ) and sticks out all over like when you touch that static ball at the science center lol. does that make sense?
booey2 replied: Have you tried the leave in spray conditioners. I know of one called Infusium, it will also help with tangles when you comb her hair. The other option is to you dryer sheets like Bounce and give your head a little rub as long as you don't mind smelling like the fragarance of bounce. I have done this before and it works.
kimberley replied: i tried the detangler stuff for kids but it doesn't last a whole day. will try the bounce tho lol.
Kaitlin'smom replied: ahh yes I know what you mean and I cant think of it off hand but yes there is somethign that helps with that I will have to look on line to see what it is. I uded to have this problem before I had Kait.
Bounce or any dryer sheet also good idea it does work
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Maddie and I also have thin, fine hair. I use Bounce dryer sheets on both of ours. I have to do this EVERYDAY and I keep some with me in the car. It really works. Oh, and I always thought it would make my hair greasy looking, but it doesn't
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: What about just working a little gel or some type of styling product in while it's still wet? That may work. I would think the more you condition the more it would fly all over the place, but that's JMO.
kit_kats_mom replied: I have the same type of hair. Rae, any extra styling products tend to weigh down thin, fine hair. It makes it look dirty. I have to use light conditioners to avoid that problem. I love the way that deep conditioners make my hair feel but if I use one, by lunch time I look like a greasy headed dirt ball. I don't have much of a static problem here in FL (the humidity is almost always 80% or more) but I will need to keep bounce in mind if I ever run into that problem.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: A finishing cream might help, or sometimes I spray my hands with a bit of hair spray and then run them down my hair. I have the worst fly-aways ever!
kimberley replied: hair spray and gel dont work for any length of time. within a couple of hours it is fly away again and if i put more stuff in, i will be a greasehead lol. the conditioner is supposed to be for winter static hair but i dont use it everyday. thanks
coasterqueen replied: I agree and I think putting unnecessary products in kids hair isn't the greatest thing to do.
Kylie has this type of hair and I just keep a spray bottle and brush on me and lightly wet it down/brush it when it gets this way.
Might have to try the dryer sheet. I'm guessing it's not really bad for their hair? Probably much better than hair products.
mom2tripp replied: I use the greatest stuff by John Frieda, it's called Brilliant Brunnette or Brilliant Blonde, they also make it for redheads, Satin Shine. I use it for after I blow dry my hair for flyways. Doesn't weigh it down or make it look greasy. I have the thinnest, straight hair EVER and it does the same thing!!! It's about 6 bucks a pop but soooo worth it!
CosmetologyMommy replied: Try something like glass by redken, glass drops by paul mitchell or shine by tigi. Just use a lil bit though, cuz it will make ur hair greasy. Put it on ur hair when it is damp and rub it all through. You can use a lil finishing spray underneath ur hair too after blowdrying. Hope I helped
My2Beauties replied: For your own hair you could try hair wax too, works great. Hanna has the same kind of hair, it goes everywhere, I just weit it a bit with a comb or brush to get rid of them temporarily, I also keep her hair up in pigtails when we're going out so that tends to help a lot.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Besides making my hair greasy, gel and hairspray tend to make the static worse. I use Aussie conditioner (can't remember the exact type) and it doesn't make my hair greasy at all or weigh it down. It doesn't help the static, either but anyway....
The dryer sheets don't hurt their hair, Karen. You just barely run it over their hair. Not much gets on it, but you would be amazed how well it works.
I've tried just about everything. Glass, wax I hate static!! It makes me feel like my hair is crawling all over my head.
coasterqueen replied: We will give this tried and true trick a try.
MommyToAshley replied: OMG, Ashley has the worst static hair. When she takes her hat off in the winter, her hair stands practically straight up. I put her hair in ponytails a lot so it doesn't look as bad, but some of the hairs still stick out from the static. Her hair isn't real fine, but it's not real thick either.
I'll have to try the dryer sheets, thanks for the tip.
Jamison'smama replied: Well, I have recently discovered Dove Smooth and Soft Anti-frizz cream---works wonders on Jama's crazy hair!!!
You can use it on wet or dry hair---I wet hers down a little and add it in the morning---makes a HUGE difference. Never looks greasy and I have put in quite a bit before.
Here is a link Dove
Also, my sister puts a dryer sheet into her brush--just pushes it down over the bristles and brushes her hair--seems to work for the static.
