had to take Jade to the dr...

kimberley wrote: she broke out in hives yesterday and they haven't stopped. she might clear up for about 20 min then she breaks out again:( we took her to the ped and he said that it is nearly impossible to determine what is causing it and that it could last for months and to just use calamine lotion if she is itchy. i haven't really noticed anything different around her. same soap, laundry detergent, food, etc. i am not really happy with the dr's advice sad.gif i feel so helpless. she gets so red and itchy and uncomfortable. i wish there was something i could do for her. anyone else have experience with something like this? they are all over her body, her head, her face, even the palms of her hands have gone red.

we did get to weigh her. she has gained half a pound since last month. she is now 17lbs 5oz at almost 7mos smile.gif gotta love that bm.

Kaitlin'smom replied: awww poor thing, sorry no advice. i totaly understand the feeling helpless, and the doc not helping at all. Just a thought anything new to your diet?

DansMom replied: Daniel had awful dermatitis when I was eating/drinking dairy, but I think you would have seen it earlier than this. My question is the same---did you eat anything unusual (like peanuts or shellfish?) The mysteriousness is so anxiety producing---and my ped was just as unhelpful as yours. I worked out on my own, much later, that he had a dairy allergy, and wished he had mentioned the possibility. I hope you figure out what is causing it! Hugs to Jade and hoping it goes away soon! grouphug.gif

jen replied: aWWWWWWWW I am so sorry! I know how scary hives look especially when they just keep spreading or get worse over a short time. I don't really have any advice. My horse broke out in hives (huge golf ball size bumps) one time from HEAD to TAIL and it turned out to be from fly spray that I didn't dilute enough but had used for years and years, I gave her 50 baby benadryl in a paste and they went away in a matter of hours!

(((((((HUGS))))))))) I hope you find out what it is, that is most of the battle! wink.gif

kimberley replied: she is still too young for antihistamines so no benadryl or caladryl for her. nothing is really new in my diet. i tend to eat the same things all the time. just praying this goes away soon. she is in surprisingly good spirits considering.

MommyToAshley replied: Awwwee, poor baby! No advice, I just wanted to say I hope she is feeling better soon. grouphug.gif

paradisemommy replied: poor jade..just wanted to send some

~*~*~*~*~*~*~get well vibes..~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

A&A'smommy replied: Poor baby! I hope she gets better soon! (((HUGS)))

Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug.gif AWWWWW poor Jade, that must so uncomfortable for her. I can't believe your pediatrician wouldn't do allergy tests! I hope this goes away soon! grouphug.gif

kimberley replied:
this is the same ped that wouldn't send James for an allergy test for years saying it's not food because it is not around the mouth. he just kept sending me back to the dermatologist who also didn't believe he needed to be tested and my poor son has severe eczema where his legs are just raw! i demanded the referral a couple of months ago and found out he is severely allergic to pork and cat hair and he loves ham, bacon, bbq pork and sausages sad.gif i am going to let it go for a week in case it was something i ate or from her soap or something but if it doesn't get better, i will talk to the allergist myself and beg her to let me go without a referral.
thanks for the hugs. will keep you posted. grouphug.gif

kimberley replied: sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif the dr called this morning and she tested positive for strep. so the mystery of the hives are explained. it is weird because she is not showing any signs of strep. she is on antibiotics for 10 days. hope she gets better soon.

coasterqueen replied: Ahh Kimberley I am so sorry Jade has strep sad.gif I hope she is feeling better soon. grouphug.gif grouphug.gif
