mom2my2cuties replied: cool

im all about being different so i like colors you dont see everyday

yea classics are awesome. i owned a 66 289 for a short while. id like to get another one to resto-mod.

nice 67!

BabyOwen427 replied: Yeah, this is my dh's baby. He's completely redone it. He rebuilt the engine to a 302, 4 speed. Now that the engine is done the next step is interior restoration, and paint job.
You can easily get your own mustang. They're all over the market, right now apparently there is a huge mustang craze all the sissy city folk want a mustang for the 'prestige' of owning one. Dh has owned his mustang for about 10 years.
Good luck getting one.

J-rod replied:
ive owned 5 stangs in 5 yrs. lol. i rebuilt 2 of the 5. bought the one and drove for a while...didnt like it, then i had the 66 for under 1 hr....guy offered me a proffit before i ever paid for it so i took it.

my buddy has a 66 coupe . was a 6 cylinder auto...now its a 289 race motor, with a WC T-5 5 speed, and full shelby suspension....

i am addicted to these cars.

Bee_Kay replied: I've been thinking about getting a new car.

I've tossed around the idea of getting a Camry, or Grand Prix.....

So, DH and I were talking about cars one day and I mention that I might just want a Mustang..... He couldn't have been more happy with my decision. wink.gif

J-rod replied:
new mustangs are best bang for buck sports car made..... that and you can add a few thousand to them and have 500 RWHP = thumb.gif

Bee_Kay replied:
I have ALWAYS loved Mustangs.
But, having 3 young children (back then), it just wasn't reasonable to buy one..... but, they are older now wink.gif

BabyOwen427 replied: Who has a few thousand to spend after buying a new car?
Yeah, 500 hp before you loose 150-200 hp to cats, power steering, power brakes, micro filter intake system, egr, dis ignintion, and air conditioning.

My Dh says 'My mustang will eat new mustangs alive!' 'V6 are a snack, and V8's are a juicy dinner.'

The mustang has not been a viable competitor in the muscle car field since the loss of the 302 in 1996.

J-rod replied:
WOW you dont read much on new stangs have ya? the 03/04 cobra is STOCK 390 HP...over 340 to the wheels. most modded stangs dont run cats. and the 302 ended in 1995. the 96-98 mod motor 4.6's sucked...but the new ones are good. your husband modded his...stock 289...he stroked it to 302..same as in todays world..... ahhhh im not getting into this debate here....but mods are very affordable....i just watched a stock 05 GT...add a blower and put close to 400 at the wheels. and FYI 500 RWHP = rear wheel HP...which assumes all the lose you mentioned.

BabyOwen427 replied: I want to make sure you understand this is my dh telling me what to say.

Now, you've got him pacing the house mumbling car stats.
Anyways, I think the best is to just agree to disagree.

ive been obsessed since i was like 3. lol

the age old debate of old school vs new school...un fortunately alot of people cant enjoy both....i do

but nothing personal and if i seemed like an a**hole..im sorry i got defensive.

BabyOwen427 replied: Not an a-hole, just passionate. DH here, I've owned new and old and I allways loved the old and had problems with the new. I guess that I have had a bad run of luck with the early 4.6 liters

DillsMommy replied: DH is mustang obsessed too. He's had several over the past 5 years that we've been married. He races too.

J-rod replied:
the 96-98 non-PI 4.6's were dogs and crap ill agree. i owned a 98 for a few months. the PI 99-04's are good. ill agree...the classics are forever amazing and you cant replace them....but i enjoy seeing the new stuff come out.

ive owned

95
00
66
98
95

and looking at another 95 5.0 right now to tinker around with.

BabyOwen427 replied: dh again. I guess I need to test drive a new 05-06 model. I almost have butterflies about the new shelby coming out. All of my contacts from the mustang sites that have interest in the classics and the fox body mustangs including myself, felt some sense of betrayal when the killed the 302. to replace it with what we thought was and inferior motor.

The more I hear, the more I learn that the newer engines starting in 03 with the mach one model reintroduction are much better than their predecessors of 96-2000.

I will cautiously look back at newer mustangs, regardless of my previous feelings or my opinions of the future, I am and allways will be a loyal member of the Herd, and will allways love mustangs. the mustang is the only car that can be equated to a symbol of freedom such as Lady Liberty herself.

J-rod replied:
thumb.gif amen to that!!!!!!
