hi everyone - i'm back

alice&arik wrote: I was in Arkansas with my mom. And my sister had a baby boy. Named Wyatt. He is adorable. I had a few questions for all of you moms.... Arik is REALLY a monster lately. Everything I tell him not to do he does. Like climbing on the kitchen table, I tell him no, get down, and take him off it and then he climbs back on there, and then if he falls down, he cries and then does it again. You think he would learn to stay off...NO! And he never listens to anything i say, it makes me really mad. He gets time-outs and i take his toys away, nothing seems to phase him. I just don't get it. But anyway, if anyone has any ideas that would be great. I have a few cute pics of him to share.

The first one is one of those old time photos we had done. It was fun, he was actually good that time!! wub.gif wub.gif

alice&arik replied: that didn't work. here is his fall pic

My2Carebears replied: We are having the same problem with Angel. We are doing the time outs and talling her No. I wish i had some better advice. he is probably just testing you, Like Mine is. She is slowly starting to stay off the table, but she still climbs up in the chairs to get what she wants. So we leave the table cleared and try to keep the lights off when we aren't in there. that helps some too.
Welcome back
and congrats on the Nephew!

paradisemommy replied: adorable picture..sorry no advice here...but i think we are all in the same boat..taven is a little terror too - does everything he's not supposed to, tries to climb on the kitchen table, throws his food on the ground..you name it...i'm sooooo hoping it's a phase but i think its the terrible 2's starting awful early..he's been early with all his learning..i think he is just staying true to form... laugh.gif

alice&arik replied: i'm trying this other one again.

alice&arik replied: Ok one more of him on the potty chair, finally got these developed but it is so cute I have to show all of you. rolling_smile.gif wub.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: LOL! rolling_smile.gif That picture on the potty chair is so cute! He is such a cutie. All the pics are great! thumb.gif

Maddie went through that phase of climbing and not listening. She still has her moments. He is just testing his boundaries. You have to remember that it is just a phase. Do the best you can right now. You will repeat yourself A LOT, but eventually he will out grow it and move on to something else. It will get better, I promise! wink.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: wub.gif What a sweet littel boy! I love the western picture of the two of you!

kimberley replied: i love that old pic of him on the table with the hat wub.gif wub.gif very handsome!

as for his behavior, i found at his age the only thing i could do that worked was to distract the boys into doing something more constructive and less destuctive LOL rolling_smile.gif

5littleladies replied: Welcome back!! What great pictures. wub.gif He is adorable!!

amynicole21 replied: Oh my, those pics are so cute!!! wub.gif

Sophia's been mischievious lately, too. She laughs when you tell her not to do something, and that twinkle in her eye leads me to believe it's only going to get worse rolleyes.gif No advice, just sympathy here. wacko.gif

A&A'smommy replied: hello Welcome back!! You have a VERY cute little boy!! I LOVE the pic of you and him!!!

DansMom replied: Those photos are great!! Arik's such a cute boy. Daniel's pretty defiant too, and it's been getting worse the older and smarter he gets! Like Kimberley said, I think the only thing that works at this age is distracting them. I am lucky in that I can get Daniel going on some other activity relatively easily. But he will deliberately do things he knows he's not supposed to do, like get into the garbage and the cat food, and look up at us to see if we will react. wacko.gif

alice&arik replied: Thanks everyone! I just hope his behaviors get better. He can be just awful. I tried wrapping some presents last night and he wrecked the same one twice so i had to rewrap it. Ugh...so frustrating. He just never listens, and it is only going to get worse. I dred the future, but maybe he will start talking more soon, so that should be a little helpful, he can tell me what he wants maybe. But thanks again. wavey.gif

coasterqueen replied: Those are adorable pics!!!!! wub.gif

I wish I had some advice for you on the oneriness (sp?), but Kylie is much the same way and I have no idea what to do with her, laugh.gif *SIGH*

maliksmommy replied: I definately think it's a phase we are all going thru right now. I wonder sometimes how Malik at 1 can be so bad. He just ignores me when I tell him no, it's like he can't even hear me. The pic of him on the potty, are you already training him?????????

alice&arik replied:
I bought him the potty chair for his birthday, so he could get used to it and see what it is all about. He likes to sit on it, and when I say, "Need to go potty?" He runs over to it and sits on it, but never goes. I just want to get him ready, I don't want to buy diapers for 2 more years. wacko.gif But he gets the wipes and diaper out when he is dirty and knows when he needs a dry one. So he is getting ready hopefully. thumb.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Welcome back!!!!

Those pictures are sooooooooo cute! I just love the old fashioned ones! wub.gif

Congrats, Auntie! Tell your sis that I said congrats too. Feel free to invite her to Parenting Club, we'd love to see some pics of Wyatt!

As for Arik's behavior, it is normal. He is right on track developmentally, even though it is frustrating for us Moms! Ashley is doing the same thing. She will go up to something she is not allowed to touch, shake her head and say "no" and then throw it. Then when I tell her "no no", she will come up to me and give me a hug and go "aweeee" and then a big ol' wrinkled nose grin. Sooo, they know what they are doing, they are just testing us. At this age, I agree that distraction is the best tactic... it's the only one I have found to work with Ashley.
