how organized are you?
cameragirl21 wrote: organization is so not my strong point but i'm very creative and i've come to realize that you're either very creative or very organized but you are rarely both. in fact, there is an article on Yahoo's front page about how too much order in the work place stifles creativity. way to reward that messy work desk! the thing is, i'd love to keep everything in order but i never seem to have the time and i've tried Flylady and can't say it works because i can't deal with the 100 emails a day and i guess i need a system that is just skin and bones without any fluff, if you kwim. however, the lack of order sometimes drives me nuts, even though i notice that i can find things faster before the housekeeper comes (or before i do a major cleaning) rather than after. how about you--neatnik and organized or not?
coasterqueen replied: I used to be so organized it was disgusting, but the key phrase is USED TO. Then I had kids and organization fell to the waist-side.
Calimama replied: I'm pretty organized when it comes to my house. I wasn't always but I'm going to school to be an interior designer and the appearance of my house has become very important to me. Now.. the closets and places people don't see, aren't quite as neat as I'd like. DH teases me that I can decorate an entire room in 2 days but it will take me a month to clean a closet.
kit_kats_mom replied: I'm way organized but I like to think I'm quite creative as well. IMO, keeping my home organized allows me the free time to be organized. Otherwise, I'm just chasing my tail to keep up with the basics and finding mis-placed items.
I will admit however, that some of the most creative people I know, are the messiest (not dirtiest per se, just messy). The best example of that I know of is my step dads archectectiual office. The place where all the creative types are looks like a tornado just tore through.
grapfruit replied: I kind of go both ways. I'd rather everything be super organized (like for instance my "pantry" has a list of all the items inside the closet door ) But my bf isn't so organized, so I go between being super organized, to I can't handle it, if it can't be how I like it then I'm not touching it.
luvmykids replied: The Today show had a segment on messy people not too long ago and said all the "self help" stuff for disorganized people is a crock....there's nothing wrong with it. I love that theory
punkeemunkee'smom replied: And yet they still sell more books on it than you can count-I have a friend who just got jipped for $14.95!
luvmykids replied: ROFLMA
Your friend is a no offense

My3LilMonkeys replied: I am anal retentive about organization at work - my desk is the most organized one in the office (I'm not particularly creative, more of an analytical type). At home I am not as organized as I'd like, mainly because the kids are like little tornados.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I'm organized in the sense that I have my routines.... and the order of those routines allows me to be able to spend my days doing nothing if I want to... I double or triple cook, and I do laundry every morning. Those two things alone save me hours during the week.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I wouldn't go as far as better homes and gardens, but I'm pretty anal about tidiness. I can't stand things out of place. I like to know where things are. I have only two small junk drawers in my house, one in the kitchen and one in the top drawer of my dresser. Of course the basement, where the kids toys are kept, is a mess each day. But I can't fall asleep if I haven't picked up before going to bed. I definitely have gotten better though...I swear!
Twelve Volt Man replied: That's the only thing that scares me about our impending arival. I am an extreme neat freak and cannot stand stuff cluttering up the house. I know when my son is born, and especially when he's older, there will be junk all over the place. I'm getting stressed just talking about it. Actually, I think I'll send him and his mom to live with grandma and grandpa so I can have an orderly house.
redplaydoh replied: This is me exactly...
