i finally did it - boo hoo for me

moped wrote: I finally took the last (bedtime) bottle away from L. She didn't even care one single bit. I asked if she wanted her "nilk" and she walked to the sippy cups, so i put some "nilk" in a cup and she drank it and played a few minutes then went to bed.

I am such a nazi about most things, but I have a hard time taking that away, so it was much harder on me and I know i should have done it at 1 year, but I didn't!

Anyways, boohoo for me, now she is oficially a big girl bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif

A&A'smommy replied: hug.gif awwww I know its hard my time is coming and I'm not sure if I'm ready yet bawling.gif hug.gif

Mommy2Isabella replied: I need to do the same. Isaia still gets milk to go to bed ...

CantWait replied: hug.gif hug.gif Just think how much better it is for her, and how much easier it is for you. No more washing bottles, lids, caps and nipples argh!!!

3xsthefun replied: hug.gif It is really hard.

wcs40110 replied: smile.gif You want them to move on but it's still so sad. smile.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: thumb.gif Awww, what a big girl. If it makes you feel better, Aiden had a soft tipped sippy (pure silicone tip) until he was about 18 months. And really that's no different than a glorified bottle, IMO. It was the only sippy he would take when we transitioned from the bottle. He was so stubborn. WTG mom and little L! thumb.gif

moped replied: I have to ask, why is the bottle bad? I haven't done any reserach but I truly don't know why one bottle a day is harmful.....I just do what people tell me to rolleyes.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
I think it's mosly to avoid bottle rot, since a lot of parents who give their children bottles at that age usually give it to them in their bed or to fall asleep. Not all, but a lot.

ETA: I also think professionals don't think it's age appropriate, considering at that age they are "capable" of drinking from a sippy or a cup.

CantWait replied:
I really don't think one is a big deal so long as she's not going to bed with milk in the bottle and falling asleep like that. I just meant transition wise it's better for her, maybe easier is a better word, I dunno.

moped replied: Oh yeah for sure!

She has never gone t bed with it. Anyways, it sure didn't bother her one bit, so I am glad because I have been thinking about it for a while.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
We have to sooner or later find a way out like that with Aiden's blankie...I hope it's that easy. I swear that kid is going to be taking it to college. laugh.gif We have the perfect Linus on our hands.

lovemy2 replied: That is a tough one to swallow - right up there with getting rid of the crib - I wouldn't know that one though probably never will - Dylan is staying in his until he is 15 laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Anyway - big huggssss to you Momma - its never easy to give things up - especially our babies sleep.gif

moped replied:
Well Jack will be 5 next month and still has "stinky" his little stuffed dog that he sucks the ear of, Stinky doesn't come out of his bed but he HAS to be there! blink.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied:
Brooke is 5 1/2 and still has a blankie. He doesn't leave the house (except for when she sleeps over at grandma's or camping, etc) but she still plays with him occasionally and HAS to sleep with him every night. I'm already starting to tell her that blankie will be retiring when she goes to kindergarten in the fall and won't be allowed out of her bed and she's not sure she likes that idea. tongue.gif
