iPod help
Crystalina wrote: With my iPod I just very easily download from iTunes. My neice just got her first iPod so I went on her computer and tried downloading iTunes and it says she needs to have Windows XP or Vista to download iTunes but they cannot have either due to his job I guess. My question is what other kind of thing can you download music from for your iPod? I'm sure iTunes isn't the only place right? Or is that it?
luvmykids replied: I think you can use other sites, like limewire, but I've never tried it so I'm not sure. Sorry
Anthony275 replied: if her ipod is the new kind, i think you need apple software for the new ones but in 2005 my cousin could use windows media player to update.
kinda ridiculous if he cant have itunes on his computer. windows media player has the store for music and those are allowed
Anthony275 replied: if you're looking for a peer-to-peer software, limewire is the easiest one to use. you can download songs from myspace too
Crystalina replied: They don't have internet at their house (in the country with no service) but he has 6 in his office and for some reason he cannot have WindowXP or Vista. I guess he could have iTunes because they are his computers but you cannot download iTunes unless you use XP or Vista. I didn't ask why he couldn't have either. I'm assuming it has something to do with the office.
Thanks for the info. She has the new Nano like I have. The one that just came out.
luvbug00 replied: U CAN FROM LIMEWIRE..<--sorry stuck in all caps. umm anyway you can from there and use windows to store. that's how my boss does it.
Crystalina replied: Thanks Nadia. I'll let her know.
Crystalina replied: ok, call be stupid but where do you buy music from to store on there? I have only dealt with iTunes so it's really easy and I don't have to think about it. This is new to me. So she can just buy a song from anywhere and save it with this LimeWire? How would she sync her iPod?
Anthony275 replied: to be honest, i dont know. i know with me on itunes i just do "get files from folder" and find my limewire folder and it imports everything. maybe happymom can fill us in
grapfruit replied: What I do is download on Lime Wire (I have a Mac so I have a hard time finding any "downloader" as it's all for Windows based computers. What ITunes does automatically is make a folder for my Lime Wire downloads. Then I simply drag and drop to my IPod. (so easy!)
When she says "buy" music. You can go to the ITunes website (try Googling ITunes) and actually buy music...which is *cough* the legal way of putting music on MP3 players... Any online music sharer will probably work...
Also, you can always put music from CDs onto an IPod...
If all else fails, Apple has AWESOME tutorials online. (www.apple.com) and then click on which IPod they have...
Anthony275 replied: yeah, but she's saying they can't have itunes
grapfruit replied: Oh totally read that wrong. I read it as she couldn't get songs into ITunes, I see, can't INSTALL ITunes.
Can you go online and install an older version of ITunes???
Anthony275 replied: won't work with the new versions of ipod software
