kick boxing or aerobics?
MommyToAshley wrote: DH and I decided to join the Y. They just built a brand new one not far away that has a nice gym/excercise room. Ashley already does some programs through the Y, so what we would save on her fees just about pays for membership.
So, I am thinking about taking some of their classes. I want to try either kick boxing or the aerobics class? Does anyone have a recommendation.. can't decide which one to register for.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I'm a member at our Y and absolutely love the kickboxing class. It's just the type of workout I like because it has a lot of fun dance moves and they typically play fun music IMO. Aerobics can be a bit slow sometimes. The difference IMO is that kickboxing feels like an all over workout, lots of ab work without even knowing you're doing it. Where regular aerobics seems to only work your legs and glutes, nothing for arms. So it just depends what you like. I would suggest trying one of each...do you have to pay and stick with the class if you register? At ours, it's just show up when you want. Your membership covers it all.
Good luck!
My3LilMonkeys replied: I would also recommend kickboxing! It's more upbeat and fast paced.
kimberley replied: i would go for the kick boxing.. aerobics is such a chore to me but kick boxing is fun lol. have fun whatever you do
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I can't do kickboxing...it kills me. You have to be really careful and make sure you do it correctly so you don't hurt your joints. Anyway, a lot of people love it and are very successful with it.
I say just try out a bunch of classes until you find one that works for you. Good luck!
ediep replied: I don't tale kickboxing but I do take step class and I love it!
coasterqueen replied: I say kickboxing.
luvmykids replied: I haven't done either (well, since Jazzercise in the 80's!) but kickboxing looks more appealing.
Brias3 replied: I personally prefer AND feel I get a better workout for myself in aerobics. However, I know kick boxing is now very popular and effective from what I hear. I guess its just a preferential thing. Inquire at the Y if you can "try" a class of each. I know they let me do that with Yoga.
redchief replied: As said before, kickboxing is a bit more high impact than standard aerobics training. I like kickboxing, but that's just right for me. As far as I'm concerned any type of exercise is good, and I'd say try them both and see what you prefer. Happy hopping!!!
NEWMOM05 replied: Haven't done either, but heard kickboxing was funner.
CantWait replied: I haven't done it, but I'm told that kickboxing is an amazing workout, and it's a ton of fun
