laundry question
PrairieMom wrote: i have a laundry problem. I left some dirty laundry before we went on vacation, and it sat in my basement for a week. One of the things was a wet dish towel, and now everything is covered in mold. I washed the clothes and got the smell out, but black spots are still there. I have tried dreft spray, oxy clean spray and detergent with a bit of bleach, but I can't get the spots out Anyone know of a way to save my clothes? Its not much, DH's T-shirt, a Dress of Al's a pair of Ben's underpants, and shorts and that dish towel.
C&K*s Mommie replied: my advice..... toss them away.
PrairieMom replied: yeah... this is my last ditch effort. I figured if y-all didn't have some majic solution they were gonna get trashed.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I've BTDT and tried everything I could think of...I had to finally throw the clothes out.
gr33n3y3z replied: yep toss them
PrairieMom replied: ok.
Calimama replied: Yuck, I did that last summer, they went into the trash too.
Cece00 replied: Clorox 2
lovemy2 replied: Circular file cabinet sounds like the place to find the answer to me
Hillbilly Housewife replied: You dried it... if you hadn't dried it, you might have been able to save them.
PrairieMom replied: no, i never dried them. They went out to the line 3 times, and came right back into the laundry room. At least it was all stuff that we never wear, since I was holding all our good stuff back to pack for the trip.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Try Clorox then, if you haven't thrown them out... I saved a couple things with that if I was really attached to them... otherwise their saviour is the trashcan
PrairieMom replied: should I put the clorox right on them? They are colored clothes, how do I go about bleaching them? I already tried adding a little bleach to the washing machine.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I just put the bleach stuff in my little compartment in my machine. Hmmm.
Have you tried a Tide to Go pen?
PrairieMom replied: no, The mold is way to extensive for that. Its over 50% of one of DH's shirts. I guess I will just toss them. I'm not out much. The sad thing is that the dress I ruined was DH's favorite for Al. Oh well. If thats my biggest problem today, I will be doing pretty good.
BabyOwen427 replied: I did that too. I couldn't get the stains out either. I didn't trash them though, cause I loved them (they were baby clothes) so he wears them only when I know we aren't going anywhere. And I don't have a problem if he gets into the mud while wearing them. He also has this adorable one piece baseball jersey outfit and he got into my laundry stuff and he sat in a puddle of bleach. The entire bottom of it is white, while the rest of it is blue. I let him wear it only around the house cause it's such a darn cute outfit and I was so mad at myself for leaving the bleach where he could get to it. (BTW, bleach leaves welps on sensitive baby skin that lasts for days! ).
My advise for ya, if you really like them and have tried everything to get the stains out then reserve them for at-home wear only. Good luck!
KingMom replied: We've BTDT also! We threw it out and mulitple attempts to get them clean since they were name brand clothes of Lauren's. It was only a onesie or two though.
Crystalina replied: It's not gonna happen. They will have to go. I've BTDT.
Mommy2BAK replied: Ahh thats annoying! I've done that before too, I hope you find a way to get those spots out, I've never been able to figure anything out but let us know if you do!
Calimama replied: Good excuse to go shopping!!
