list your ideal job

cameragirl21 wrote: if you could have any job in the world (besides mom wub.gif ) what would it be?
i love what i do and wouldn't want to do anything else but i wish i were already a legendary photographer...that's the only thing i'd change.
anyone else...what's your ideal job?
i only ask this because i think it helps us determine what we really want out of life or to figure out how close we are to having it.

stella6979 replied: I've always wished I was a photographer for National Geographic. Either that or a Pediatric Physical Therapist.

TheOaf66 replied: Video game tester
Food Critic or Movie Critic
Pro Demolition Derby Driver

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I have always wanted to illustrate children's books.

stella6979 replied:
Mmmmm....a food critic would be a great job indeed.

cameragirl21 replied:
what is stopping you from doing either one? not trying to be a smart @ss but it's a serious question...maybe you can be either or both.
and Rae--are you good at drawing? if so you can easily illustrate children's books, it's not hard to get into as far as i know and you can do it from home and be with the kids.

stella6979 replied:
Well, what can I say, I've never been a fan of school and I really have no desire to go back. That probably sounds terrible, but it's true. I don't mind my job now, they are pretty lenient and the pay isn't too bad, so I'll stick with it. I don't have much spare time as it is, and the time I do have, I like to spend with my family.

CantWait replied: Either Hospital Administrative (which I'm trying to do now, but the demand isn't here).

Or Scenic photographer.

cameragirl21 replied: Marie, when you say scenic photographer do you mean you want to travel and take panoramic type shots? if you can afford it, that is something you can start out doing on weekends...take one or both of the kids and take off, starting with areas close to you...plenty of scenic stuff in Canada and Alaska...i realize Alaska is on the other side of where you are but it depends on how far you want to expand your horizons.
think about where you'd want to sell the pictures.
and Shelly, you don't have to go to school to be a National Geographic photographer, you just have to travel and take some pictures that they'd be interested in. as for physical therapy, there is a tremendous demand for that field and you could likely get a scholarship and take the classes afterhours or something, it's a question of how badly you'd want it.

MoonMama replied: My brother is in a singing group and they are pretty well known here, they have a concert Sunday in fact. Anyway I do a lot of PR and promotions as well as running their myspace and in process of making a website for them. I love it and would love to to do it full time for others too. thumb.gif

stella6979 replied:
Hmmmm....I never knew that about National Geographic. I just assumed you had to take a bunch of prerequisites and like I said....I HATE school. I don't mind learning new stuff, but if I want to be a physical therapist, why do I have to take a Government class? It just never made any sense to me.
Well, once we have the money to travel, maybe I'll give National Geographic a shot. smile.gif

cameragirl21 replied: you don't have to take any classes to be a photographer, you just have to have an eye for it and know how to take a picture. i am mostly self taught and i have run into photographers who have Master's degrees in photography and their work is horrible. no one can teach you how to have an eye for pictures, it's either in you or it's not, so i say give it a shot! start out by photographing stuff around you and see where it goes!
oh, and Ally, looks like you're on your way to doing what you want to do, good luck with it, i know you can do it!

PrairieMom replied: I always thought I would like to be a marching band instructor. laugh.gif I LOVED it so much in High school. Unfortunately, you have to be a teacher to do that, and teaching would pretty much be my worst nightmare. laugh.gif

DansMom replied: Philanthropist and patron of the arts.

cameragirl21 replied:
you can start with my art. wink.gif
a philanthropist is not really a job, it's a hobby of the extremely wealthy, but you can do little things for charity and from what i know of you, Tracy, i'm sure you already do, you actually seem like a philanthropist and if you had told me from day one that you are one i'd for sure have believed you.
what is it that you do? are you are a prof at the U of M? you seem very academic to me.

Calimama replied: Interior designer. I love making people's houses a home. wub.gif

DansMom replied: I manage a staff of copy editors at a mathematical publication---started as a copy editor and worked my way up.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Professional Singer
Personal Shopper
Interior Designer
Something to do with animals, but I can't narrow it down

cameragirl21 replied:
way cool, you are an academic and into advertising, how cool! See, Daniel has a very cool mom, hope he knows it. wub.gif

Cece00 replied: I would want to be a pediatric cardiologist. I wanted to do that and even went to college and was Pre-Med, but I didnt get far...life kinda got in the way. And I could never go back to school for that long with so many kids, but I always thought it would be neat. OR, I'd be a pediatric oncologist, to save kids with cancer. I think that would also be a job I'd like and would be a very noble profession happy.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Yes, I have my BA in 2-D design, which is another term for illustration back in the day! Who does 2-D or even draw these days? It's all done on computer. But anyhow, I plan to get back into when the boys are bigger and in school.

Food critic is truly my ideal job!! Good thinking whoever said it! And I would love to own a lot of properties like Trump so that I'm making money in my sleep! snooze.gif

lovemykiddies replied: Well....if I can get my life together, I'd love to have my OWN kids some day. I love baby-sitting. I also hope I get finish my degree and apply to grad school. My plan is to be a clinical child psychologist...we will see.

lovemy2 replied: An Attorney but the kind that doesn't invoke the type of thoughts a typical attorney does!! rolling_smile.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I love what I do. But I wish I had a better environment to do it in. Though, research might be interesting too.

My3LilMonkeys replied: An amusement park critic - go on all the rides for free, what could be better!

HuskerMom replied: I'd love to be an architect and work from home smile.gif
