maternity clothes.. - Just wondering....

what do you think is a resonable price for maternity wear??
I ask because I don't know the normal price for maternity clothes.( I only wore overalls ) and Yesterday my friend spent a good amount on them and I thought it was crazy because she's only gonna wear it for 7-8 more months.( no more children antisipated in the near future). I was just wondering what other people did when they were pregant.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I wore maternity with Katy and Matt...for Johnny most of the mat. stuf just never fit me right so I wore mat. t-shirts but on bottom just my regular bottoms with a bella band. Shirts $10-15 jeans about $50
My3LilMonkeys replied: I wore mostly Target clothes, thrift shop finds and hand me downs, with a mix of DH's shirts for weekend/comfy wear. Like you, I thought it was kinda nuts to go crazy buying stuff that I would only wear for a few months. I'm cheap though.
CantWait replied: I wore mostly extra large clothes, and men's tshirts. I only bought a pair of maternity pants for work (before they switched the uniforms ), a maternity skirt and shirt so I could actually feel pretty on Mother's Day, and a maternity dress for when Ron came home from overseas for the birth (yes that was only a week of wearing it). If I had more money though, I would have bought more. I didn't feel very girly wearing gym shorts and baggy t's all the time.
luvmykids replied: I wore maternity clothes but not expensive ones, I had a few pairs of Old Navy maternity jeans that I loved loved loved and other than that mostly overalls.
mommyofpremitwins replied: I love shopping and shopping for maternity clothes was great. They are expensive though. But it is a time when you don't feel pretty anymore so to lift your spirits go shopping.
A&A'smommy replied: well I spent 300 dollars on maternity clothes for the whole 9months in the begging until I was 6months I only wore overalls and my regular clothes but I couldn't button up my pants so I had to get some clothes
msoulz replied: And I bought clothes a couple of sizes up which I could wear up until about 6 months. THen I wore them afterward for a while too.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I bought a lot of mine at JCPenney's when I was pg with Maddie (and Target). With Ethan I bought them at resale shops, Target, Kohl's. I just bought them here and there (like I do everything else) so I didn't spend a whole lot at once. I don't remember exactly how much I spent.
luvmykids replied: I also found out about a trick I wish I'd thought of, a friend of mine who recently had a baby wore her regular pants for awhile and stretched it out by using a rubber band around the button/through the button hole to give her an extra inch or two.
PrairieMom replied: that wouldn't have helped me. I gained my weight in my thighs.
I uesd a lot of hand me downs, but the stuff I bought was mostly from target and shopko. I am way cheap.
Nina J replied: I bought maternity clothes with Emily and Odessa. I hardly wore them when I was pregnant with Emily though, I wore baby doll dresses nearly the whole time, with black pants when my belly got bigger and made the dress shorter. I wore the dresses kind of like the one in the attached picture, nice and loose from under your breasts down Except, I didn't look as good as the woman in the picture
ZandersMama replied: Thrift Store! And my SIL gave birth right before I got preggo, I got alot there.
Our Lil' Family replied: A friend gave me a couple pieces but only the bottoms fit. I bought a few outifts that I just wore a lot and a dress I needed for a wedding, then wore it to a funeral that I didn't expect. Overall I'd say I spent about $200....and I just gave them all away!!!!!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I wore maternity clothes, but a lot of it was borrowed. For me just wearing oversized clothing or overalls was way too uncomfortable and I didn't want to be miserable for months. I'll be needing to buy a few more things when I start getting big with this baby. They are expensive, but they way I see it I'm planning on being pregnant a few more times so it will be worth it.
mckayleesmom replied: I bought some...mostly Old Navy stuff.....But not a whole lot...With Mckaylee I didn't buy any at all....there were no maternity stores near us. After I was done with it...I sent it on to Kimberly.
MyLuvBugs replied: The sale racks were my best friend the first time around. I LOVED the Motherhood store when they started their spring and fall sales. I remember going there and getting 3 GREAT dresses and a pair of pants for like $25.00 total!! It was awesome.
Most of my clothes were purchased for me by my MIL though. She decided that I needed a whole new wardrobe . But the stuff that I bought was stuff from Wal-mart, JcPenney's Sales, and Motherhood Maternity Sales. I never spent more than $15.00 on any one item....well....other than nursing bras. THose I paid bank for high quality bras that wouldn't fall apart after one wash.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Where did you get your nursing bras? I got mine at Motherhood because they were relatively cheap, but the really don't last very long. I looked at JC Penny but they only had two styles and they were both underwire - I hate underwire. It's really ridiculous that I'm going to need to buy more for when this baby comes - the ones I bought when I was nursing Andrew aren't very old.
coasterqueen replied: Consignment shops were my friend. I spent as little as I could. It wasn't about a fashion statement going with the trends or wanting to feel great and going out buying clothes all the time, that's for sure. Unfortunatley I had to wear different clothes for work events, etc so I had to have a few different types of outfits but I wore the same 5 outfits every week. I longed to be a SAHM during my pg's where I didn't have to wear much maternity outfits and didn't have to spend as much, but that wasn't the case so I had to have casual and business wear.
My2Beauties replied: I bought some, I probably spent $300 total the whole 9 months. I bought some work shirts and a pair of comfy maternity jeans and some work pants as well. For the rest of the time I was in sweats, stretch pants (those stretch cotton ones, not the 80's style ones ) and large men's t-shirts! I could wear most of my work pants without having maternity ones, I just wore them under my belly!
Kaitlin'smom replied: When MIL and GMIL found out I was PG they took me shopping so I got a bulk of stuff then and picked up a few things here and there. Had to buy a nicer outfit for a wedding wore it a couple times and had to wear it to a funeral also . I still have all of it well I did I loan it again to sis.
I personally hated dresses and overalls on me I flet like a whale in them so I never wore them.
