need a job....

kimberley wrote: i re-evaluated our budget and i really cannot go another month of no work sad.gif any advice on working from home? where do i start? i have found a couple of telemarketing jobs i can do but they are commission based and i cannot afford to put the kids in daycare... i would never make enough to cover the costs. and i don't really want them in daycare. any advice is greatly appreciated. tia!

kit_kats_mom replied: I've made a few other posts on PP about WAH opportunities. If you dont' find them before this evening when I'm able to get some "baby-less" time at the computer, I'll try to look them up for you.

Just beware of scams. Could you open your home for a daycare? maybe just one or two other kids? Do you need a lot of extra income or just a bit to make ends meet? I only really need about $200 per month over and above what DH makes to make ends meet. That way I only have to work a few hours per week. Anything else is just gravy. tongue.gif

Get creative and I'll check in later.

Hugs!

kimberley replied: i *could* do home child care BUT most people want more individual care for their kids and are turned off by the fact that i have 3 of my own. i found a neat business idea of selling hand casts and stuff but they want $12,000 to start LOL. if i had $12,000, i wouldn't be looking for work.

ideally, i would like a minimum of $200 per week to catch up on bills and start saving. but i would work for less. from my entire morning of searching, all i have found is telemarketing and places that want me to give them money so i can earn millions.. ya whatever.

i really don't have any crafty skills to make and sell stuff online. i wish i did. i have called every community resource in the city and they tell me DH makes just a little too much ($200/mo gross too much) to qualify for any subsidy or assistance. sucks being *just* above the poverty line. well, back to my search....

Kaitlin'smom replied: I wish I knew, i to would like to work less hours away from home and be with Kaitlin more, but I have not found anything that can make decent money with out putting money in up front. I am more looking for something so I could pay thing off a little faster.... I to need to look around again see what I can find. I do have a great talent and an idea it just getting it out there so business comes in.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug.gif I'm sorry you are going through this! Could you go back to bartending in the evening? I hope you find something!

amynicole21 replied: Could you do something like sell Pampered Chef or Mary Kay products? Might not earn you $200 a week in the beginning, but the hours are certainly flexible and you would mostly work on weekends and evenings when Jamie could watch the kids, right?

I just hosted a Sensaria party - lotions, facial products, etc... It was really fun, and the sales lady probably earned about $75 - $100 for my party alone.

kimberley replied:
the bar job i had might be available again by the end of september or early october but the contract was cancelled for the summer. most bars are slow in the summer and with the new no-smoking bylaw in effect since June 1, business is worse than usual, so other bar jobs are hard to find. especially one's that are close to home.

on a positive note, i found a listing for a lady who needs childcare for her newborn... but it is nights. 10pm to 8am in her home. i applied anyway and requested to bring Jade. it is only for 3 mos, but it is $600/wk for 5 days. that would definitely help us save lots! wish me luck!

paradisemommy replied: well this isn't long term but i was thinkin if you were really desperate for money you could do some spring cleaning in your house and have a garage sale..that my bring in some extra bucks and seeing as it is probably stuff you don't use anymore or you consider junk..a lot of others may think its a treasure!!! wink.gif thumb.gif

kimberley replied:
i thought you had to put out money for those type of things for supplies? if i am right, there is no way i can justify the overhead in our budget and i really don't know enough people around here to have a successful party and i am too shy lol. Jamie's shift is changing and he will now finish at 10pm (home 30 min later) so that leaves only weekends which is our family time together. he is usually really tired after work too, which is why i was looking for something i can do with her because she can be high maintenance some days. anyways, thanks for all the thoughts wub.gif

i think i may do a yard sale thumb.gif good idea wink.gif

That sounds like it could work out, I will cross my fingers for you
ck out wahm.com as well.

ediep replied: I don't know if this would be possible for you, but my sister just got a job at a nearby daycare. Her hours will be 8:30am - 11:30am. She has a daughter that will start kindergarden this fall so she arranged that her school bust pick her up and drop er off at the daycare center.

MommyToAshley replied:
thumb.gif GOOD LUCK!!!! I have my fingers crossed for you.

Let us know if it works out!

A&A'smommy replied: Good luck hun! I hope it works out GREAT for you!

mama3x replied: I hope all works out for you! I am in the same position except we don't have enough $ or income for me to have been at home EVER.

If you come up with something, post a suggestion if you have time biggrin.gif

I wish you much luck with whatever comes your way! Take care!

momof2girls replied:
Good Idea!
We did this a few months ago and made over 200 I was shocked, it was a bunch of junk. lol

Josie83 replied: Hi I don't really have any suggestions, because I'm not sure what options are like in America (whether they're different or not I don't know!) but have you thought about doing something like posting catalogues or leaflets during the day? You could take the kids with you and you get comission, my little sister did Avon when she was younger at Christmas and made quite a bit for not much work. Just an idea! I hope you find something xx

Kirstenmumof3 replied: thumb.gif Keeping my fingers crossed that you are able to get the childcare job! Let us know how it goes!

DixieDarlin replied: Good luck! Hope something comes along for you soon!

coasterqueen replied: Good luck with the child care job!

As far as selling products, I don't know about others but I'm having a hard time with my business. Maybe it's because I'm busy all the time and can't find time to spend on the business or it's just that I don't feel like working that hard for such little amount of money. lol. I think it's the latter of the two. I can bust my bum for a 3 hour show and not make as much as one would want to. I guess it's not bad if you are doing a bunch of shows a month, but when you are doing only one or two it's not much money.

Guest replied: Did you find anything?

kimberley replied:
nope, nothing yet sad.gif
