need ebay advice asap. - got an item not honest.
J-rod wrote: well i got the ring today..... it was advertised 14k gold.....but stamped 10k.
it was a great deal at 14k.... still good at 10k.
should i notify seller and ask for some $ back or just deal with it and go on?
ZandersMama replied: I would notify the seller......It's worth a shot. He may do nothing or he may refund some $
sparkys2boys replied: I would let them know and get the money back in the diffrence. good luck with it!
Calimama replied: I would notify the seller.
Cece00 replied: I'd contact the seller. You can also always leave feedback about what happened if he chooses not to do anything about it.
mom2my2cuties replied: Well I would notify the seller - He may not even realize the discrepency.
Some people aren't too bright when it comes to e-bay and may really think he is selling 14K gold jewlery.
Also - I wouldn't leave feedback unless the guy gets nasty or until you determine if it was something more than an honest mistake.
ETA - If you feel you still got a good deal, I wouldn't worry about it too much - Just remember - it was for Steph and as long as she is happy with it, that is all that matters, right???
J-rod replied: yea. its a good deal, and she will like it im sure.... its just the fact it says 14k gold three places. says its stamped 14k and its actually a 10k.
im emailing him now
moped replied: Oh let us know how it goes
J-rod replied: i am. i can tell by the typing in the emails that english is not a first language for the seller.... so i hope we can resolve this and i didnt get burned by someone selling fakes. im taking it to the jewler tomorrow to verify.
even if i did get burned....oh well its only $20.
gr33n3y3z replied: I so hate ebay for that reason you just never know unless I buy from the company direct on ebay well Ed does lol
luvmykids replied: That's my ebay theory....I've had so, so many great experiences/deals that if I ever do run into a bad one it will still be a tiny percentage of the people I've dealt with.
But out of curiosity let us know what the jeweler says, good luck.
lisar replied: I agree.
luvbug00 replied: Actually you can contact an ebay representitive. they are required when posting to be 100% factual in their posting. if it is not as it was discribed you have the right to a FULL REFRUND. ( and an apology IMO) . If it's stamped 10k, it probaly is.

The term "gold vermeil" may be used as long as the item consists of a base of sterling silver coated or plated on all significant surfaces with gold, or a gold alloy of at least 10kt fineness, and substantial thickness and minimum thickness throughout equivalent to two and one half (2 ½) microns (or approximately 100/1,000,000ths of an inch) of fine gold. Sellers must spell out the qualifier "vermeil" throughout the body of the description wherever the word "gold" is used. *

Items that are not solid gold cannot be listed in categories for solid gold, but should be listed in the "Gold, Plate/Fill" categories (effective Jan 4, 2005). *
Sellers are required to use industry-standard abbreviations in the item title, such as "gf", "gp", or "gep," when listing these items.
J-rod replied: well seller emailed me and offered 50% off in s/h. it is 10k and not 14k. his mistake or tried to pull a fast one on holiday shoppers. either way once i get the refund i told him id be more than happy to leave positive feedback.
ill let you know in the am if he sent the refund.
CantWait replied: So far so good.
redchief replied: Sounds as if you're happy with the discount. I'm not certain how I'd proceed this close to the holiday. My angry side would tell me to report the seller; no way he/she didn't know the difference between 14k and 10k, regardless of their command of the language, but putting up a stink would definitely tarnish your feelings toward the gift.
J-rod replied: yea i dont wanna put up a fuss cause then i will remember that when she wears it. i feel he tried to take advantage of someone who may not know what to look for....but i do.
anyways he refunded 1/2 my shipping cost.....
so ill let it go.... but i will watch his acutions and notify ebay after he has left me feedback.
J-rod replied: OH NO!!!!! im an idiot
i shoulda looked at his feedback left for others before leaving feedback and accepting the refund.
looks like he has been doing this all season

all of those were for advertised 14k rings. my guess is they all recieved 10k rings instead
i need to walk away now as to not ruin the meaning behind the gift.
TheOaf66 replied: so sad that there are people like that out there that will scam other people
