My baby is 7 mo old her name is Kiley Jane and I was wondering if anyone keeps a nightlight on in the baby's room?
I have not this entire time but she has been waking up more latley crying and I wonder if she gets scared.
So just thought Id ask other mommy's

I also have another daughter that is 8 going on 16 haha.

I keep on a lamp that has a dimmer on low in Ashley's (20 months old) room. I keep it very low, but it gives her enough light that she is not scared. I remember reading somewhere that there was a study done between keeping a night light on and kids needing glasses when they get older, but I don't remember how conclusive the study was. I did try to go without a night light, but Ashley kept waking up. I would try the night light and see if it helps. It's worth a try. But, as you probably already know, there are a lot of things that can keep a 7 month old from a good noght's sleep... teething, milestones, growing spurts, and Ashely's favorite, stubborness. smile.gif

Your girl is so cute!

My Kiley is teething and she is starting to crawl so maybe she just does not want to waste time sleeping!! haha

CantWait replied: Babies sometimes to tend to get scared when they wake up in the middle of the night to a dark room. We keep a dimmer light on in Anthony's room (11 months almost), a favourite blanket and teddy bear also work to help them go back to sleep at night. BTW welcome to Parenting Club wavey.gif

Emma (12 months) has a night light in her room that she's had for the past 7 months. She kept waking up at night crying like she was really scared. So I put a night light in her room and it has helped tons.

I also heard something about night lights/lamps hurting their eyes or some such thing. I would perfer not to use a night light, but for now I have to, or else poor Emma would never get some decent rest at night.

aspenblue1 replied: Hi wavey.gif and Welcome!

I still have a night light in Isabella's room.

Julie (jem0622) replied: Welcome! I don't use nightlights for the reasons mentioned (affecting eyesight). Sounds like it could be several things...separation anxiety (that time is coming up based on her age), developmental milestones are disturbing her sleep, or toofers.

amynicole21 replied: Sophia (21months today!!) sleeps in our bed, and we keep a nightlight on in the room. It's more for me, so that I can check on her when I wake up blush.gif

natjasem replied: Yep, my girl has a night light.

ediep replied: yup, we use a night light in my sons room. he is 20 months

Elle replied: My 4 year-old is afraid of the dark (she has always been) so she has a dimmer light in her room. Also I stuck those little stars that glow in the dark to her room door, so if she wakes up at night can see where the door is and get out. wink.gif

booey2 replied: Hi and welcome, we had a night light on in Matthew's room for a long time and we now don't use one. He will be 6 in July and was given glasses about 3 months ago. We haven't put one in Thomas's room for just that reason - his eyes. Matthew had a hard time once we took away the night light but has since adjusted. Good luck.

dolfinrse replied: We use a night light too.

TeagansMom609 replied: We have a night light in our room which our 3 month old also shares with us. I keep it on at night so I can easily check on her through out the night. I also heard about it possibly affecting kids eyes but ...hey, my mom used one with me and I have 20/20 vision so...and plus im sure most people used night lights when we were younger and look alot of us have perfect vision! I think most people use them, its comforting. I mean what are they going to come up with next? Broccoli is actually BAD for you? LOL

~Sheri~ replied: I have never used a nightlight with Jared. He is almost 2.5 yrs old.
