nursing/ traveling

When you are on a long trip and your little one gets hungry do you stop and nurse or just nurse in the vehicle? I am just curious as to what others would/ have done.
msoulz replied: I have to stop because I wouldn't want to have her out of the car seat. My SIL was large breasted enough to be able to feed the baby while she was still in her car seat. Not even close for me!!!
Lynda836 replied: I'd stop to nurse. I wouldn't want to take the chance driving with the baby not in their carseat. It may take longer but it's safer.
Jamison'smama replied: If it was during the day--just for eating, we'd stop. If it was to get them to sleep or in the middle of the night, I would contort my body to be able to nurse while they were in the carseat.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: My boobs are big enough that I can just lean over a little and pop one in there.
But generally we stop, because if we're in the car and the baby is hungry, chances are we're on our way to or from our paretns house 2 1/2 hours away - and so the other 2 are hungry too... since we usually go right after daycare and stop for supper on the way.
Otherwise, I just pop it in there .
kit_kats_mom replied: I've done the booby surfing but I have to say that just stopping is way easier on the back and ribs. Those carseats are pretty hard.
akelly replied: OMG, I've never thought of that! I could do that! There's more benefit to *the ladies* than I thought!
coasterqueen replied: I tried the leaning over baby and nursing thing and not sure how you all do that (?????????) IMPOSSIBLE task for me. We just stop. When I took the girls to Memphis to meet Ryan I brought a bottle along with me just in case since I was traveling alone.
MyLuvBugs replied: I hated travelling when I was nursing b/c it ment stopping for at least 30 minutes to nurse and change a diaper. I don't recommend nursing while the car is in motion, only b/c then you'd be like Britney Spear and endangering your child. But whenever you get the "urge" to feed the baby, just stop some place and nurse her. It makes for a LONG trip, but you'll keep the baby on schedule. Good luck!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: When we were coming home from WV back in December I just leaned over and fed Jordan while she was in the carseat. It was an interesting experience, but I'm large chested enough to pull it off. Otherwise just stop and nurse that way.
holley79 replied: Well I decided to try "booby surfing" I guess I am just not very "athletic" in that department. Luckily my dad has to make a pit stop about every hour or so and my grandpa (who lives in TX) has to stop at every exit where there is a Hardees and Krystal burger because they don't have them out there. Guess there will be plenty of time for nursing.
amynicole21 replied: Yeah, we usually just "boobie surf" as Cary puts it - lol! It's not comfortable, but it is more convenient.
