boyohboyohboy wrote: so, we are now two days late, the tests still say neg. i have started feeding jake solids, but keeping a log of how he is eating and he is bfing at least 7-8 a day and that doesnt include all those night time feedings. is it possible that if we picked up more bfing, that it stopped af again? i only had one visit from her, so far, and it was normal.,
i dont feel any preg signs so far either
coasterqueen replied: BF does not stop you from ovulating. You can still ovulate and not have AF, from my understanding. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I believe that's how MANY people get pg while nursing So I don't think BF has anything to do with ovulation. Yes, if baby picks up nursing a lot and AF really wasn't there to begin with (just one time or less) then it could stop AF, but again, that doesn't stop ovulation, therefore you can still get PG while BF.
moped replied: I would listen to Karen, but I sure hope you are pg!
Jamison'smama replied: I have been nursing Jack for 22 months and have had 4 AFs--there were a couple of months in between cycle 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4. . I don't come back regular right away. I ovulate--just no AF.
boyohboyohboy replied: i know i do ovulate , i can feel that. i just wondered if it was possible to stop af again, once it started, but it does sound like it... i guess we wait a few more day and test again this is hard on someone with no patience.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I didn't think you could ovulate without having a period afterwords - doesn't the body need to expell the egg and uterus lining if you don't conceive? Women can start ovulating while BF'ing though, and since you don't get a period first to warn you that you're ovulating, a lot of women get pg while breastfeeding without ever getting AF back. That's the way I understand it anyways.
coasterqueen replied: I'm confused here. Aren't you saying the same thing I did.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Lol!! I guess I misunderstood you! I thought you were saying you could ovulate while BF but then not get a period afterwords even if you aren't pg.
coasterqueen replied: Actually that is what I'm saying. You can ovulate while BF but not have AF. I thought that was what you were saying in your post. I'm confused.

hopefulmomtobe replied: Any updates on testing???
2BMom replied: Any news???
boyohboyohboy replied: i have not tested again, since the 20th, still no af, however i am pretty sure i am not preg. i did get some ovulation kits, and took one of those, that said i ovulated last thursday, so we missed that one, although that would have been ovulating two times in one month, so i dont know if those tests work, or if my system is messed up from the bfing, either way we intend to try again on the 17th of nov, is when the next cycle should be.. so we are waiting till then. thanks for asking. good luck to you.
2BMom replied: Good luck to you too!
MyLuvBugs replied: There's a girl in my BF Support group that was 2 weeks late and was still getting Neg PG tests. She finally went into the Dr. for a blood test and sure enough...she's PG.
I say,go in and get a blood test to find out for sure. Good luck and KUP!!
As far as the ovulating and AF goes....I have a couple cousins that were Solid BF'ers and they didn't have their periods, but yet got PG. A period doesn't always mean much.
