ok seriously time to work on this baby fat - help with dieting
boyohboyohboy wrote: I have been kinda depressed about the whole NO MORE BABIES thing, having my tubes tied, and just down in the dumps...well now i realize that i have not done anything to take care of myself, and now here we are almost 4 months later and i am totally disgusted with myself.. so i figure i can take that and stay depressed and get worse, or work on getting out of the funk.
so where do i start? i need to lose this baby weight and start enjoying life again. its to cold here to take the kids outside for a walk, and with dh hours i cant get to the gym.. does anyone have any good dvd's for exercise that work? or some suggestions on dieting?
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Start a food journal. Figure out when you're most likely to fall off the wagon and try to avoid those situations Increase your intake of fresh fruits and veggies. Stay away from the inside aisles in the grocery store, shop the outside, it's where the fresher foods with less salt and preservatives are. Don't completely cut fat. You need a little, just choose good ones. Like olive oil, cream cheese, (I'd say nuts, but for Jakob)
CantWait replied: Avacados and salmon and great sources of fat also.
Drink lots of water.
For excercise, do you have stairs in your house? I would just use my stairs as I would a stepper, varying the types of steps I did, or even just walking up and down them and sometimes sprinting them, skipping one every time I went up.
Weights are good to use, and honestly all you need to start off with is a small set, 2 each of 5lb, 3lb and 2lb. You can buy a set for $40 or lots of time less.
A&A'smommy replied: Drink lots of water, watch what you eat, definitely be sure to eat breakfast that is VERY important!! Make sure to eat LOTS of veggies and fruits
lovemy2 replied: Ditto to what everyone else said - Weight Watchers is good - I did LA Weight Loss like Kelly but to be honest didn't do as well with it long term as I did with Weight Watchers - and Denise Austin's Bounce Back from Baby workout video is great - she has a bunch of workout videos - Shrink Your Female Fat Zones is good too - I am not a huge aerobics fan and these aren't like traditional aerobic - they are more centered on weights and the exercise ball.......
Good luck - I fell off the wagon when we went to Disney and am doing what I can to minimize the damage until after the holidays then its back on the band wagon for sure - my 20 year HS reunion is coming in June
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Thank heavens I didn't have that hanging over my head. Reunions are the pits.
Stacy, how about finding a weight loss buddy. A friend of mine at work has a bet with me. First to lose 50 pounds, wins $50.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Stacy, can you find a gym with a daycare? I know that with food allergies, you are worried about leaving Jakob with someone, but find a place that doesn't allow snacks. That's how our YMCA is. No snacks allowed. I live for my time alone at the gym, even if it's only for an hour. It helps break up my day with the kids and I come home feeling much less on edge, which makes us all happier! The kids enjoy it too! Wil made a craft today and even took a nap for me since he was pooped from playing. IMO, a healthy diet is important, but without any exercise, it's easy to fall back into bad habits. And when doing it from home, it's easy to find something "better" to do in place of exercise. JMHO. GL
Kaitlin'smom replied: I dunno what cable you have but we have on demand channels and we have a fitness on demand with TONS of different work outs, I just need to use them more
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Or find another mom in your shoes who will trade days with you. You watch hers while she's at the gym, she watches yours another day.
moped replied: Water water water
Calimama replied: Water, raw veggies, and working out. Dance around while you clean, run in place while you watch tv, do whatever it takes to get yourself up and moving.
boyohboyohboy replied: thanks guys i start today!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Do a search for the diet I followed.
msoulz replied: Put on a Wiggles dvd and dance with Jakob - that can be quite a workout and fun for all!
boyohboyohboy replied: what diet did u follow?
Calimama replied: Good luck!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: an expensive one. But I posted what I was allowed to eat, and how much etc.. i was very detailed.
