ok, this is weird but
cameragirl21 wrote: if you want to lose weight, try this. So after a lengthy discussion with a biologist I ran into at Whole Foods I decided to give wheat grass a try...I bought the powdered version yesterday. I know I should be growing my own given how much I love to garden but I had to try the stuff first before I spin my wheels with it and was assured the powdered kind is no less potent. Now wheat grass has various health benefits that I'd be glad to share if anyone asks but weight loss is not really known to be one of them. So I first tried this yesterday and then again this morning and got the same results--I mixed chunks of watermelon, a tablespoon of wheat grass and some liquid chlorphyll in a blender. Yesterday I also added lemon juice but today skipped it because it didn't do anything for the drink. The chlorophyll has no taste in case you're thinking it's gross...it's tasteless, just turns your drink green. Anyway, if you think about it, there are really no calories there to speak of, just watermelon as the other 2 things have no calories, really. Anyway, I have this strange full feeling after drinking it, almost a heart burny full feeling, as if I've eaten a huge feast and I have to say this is the best appetite suppresssant I've ever tried. I have no long term results yet to share but I will be making this my breakfast right after TG and replacing my usual protein shake breakfast as a lunch which should be good for weight loss and I'll share the results then if anyone is interested but the point is if you drink this you won't want to eat. I know I'll be having the porkfest of a lifetime for TG so I won't be serious about this till after but if you want an appetite suppressant, go get some wheat grass powder....
lisar replied: Where do you buy chlorphyll?
A&A'smommy replied: I may have to pick some up the next time I'm out of town (because there is lterally NO place to buy it around here!!!)
cameragirl21 replied: I buy it at Whole Foods. Chlorophyll is not the same as wheat grass although wheat grass has chlorophyll in it. Chlorophyll cleans your blood so viruses and bacteria can't thrive in it so you won't get sick, like when bugs go around. It also gives you energy, I have tons of energy on the days I drink it and can see a clear difference in the days I don't drink it. It also acts as an internal deodorant...if you drink it daily after a month or so I kid you not your farts won't smell and neither will your number 2, lol. I absolutely love the stuff for the energy it gives me though, even if I don't sleep much I feel good through the day if I drink it. But it's not like caffeine, it's not an instant jolt, it just keeps you going through the day.
moped replied: So one would need wheat grass and chlorypyl(sp)???
cameragirl21 replied: you don't necessarily need both, the wheat grass is what works as an appetite suppressant for me, I had the chlorophyll already so I just added it. The wheat grass has plenty of chlorophyll in it so you probably will be fine with just that. Wheat grass has all the health benefits of chlorophyll with the possible exception of internal deodorizer...I have never heard of wheat grass being used for that, I think you may need straight chlorophyll for that. If you're just looking to suppress your appetite and fight off infections, the wheat grass will do it. They also say it reverses graying hair...the doctor that discovered the healing aspects of it, Dr. Ann Wigmore, apparently went gray prematurely and after taking wheat grass her brown color returned. Not immediately but over time. She was diagnosed with colon cancer and refused conventional treatment, just drank wheat grass and was cancer free a year later.
A&A'smommy replied: wow now I think I REALLY want to get some there is an awesome store is tuscaloosa called manna foods I think i'm going to check there first
moped replied: I dont need the appetite suppresant, but the fighting off infections would be good.....so you drink it in a shot glass or mix it with something?
cameragirl21 replied: I mix it in my blender with watermelon chunks to get watermelon juice that's green, lol. It will really help fight off infections, it oxygenates your blood so that no bacteria or virus can live in it. It will totally clean out your liver too. You can add it to smoothies, juice, water, or drink it straight from a shot glass but remember, it's a powder so you'd have to add water or something to it to have it in a shot glass. You can also buy the grass and grow it on your windowsill and juice it yourself...it's easy to grow and if you juice it then you will have the liquid. It's basically a detox so it cleans your entire body.
cameragirl21 replied: Jessica, you can probably get it online and you can also buy wheat grass seed kits online and grow your own, it's just grass so it's easy to grow as long as you have a sunny windowsill or year around good weather as we do here. I imagine grass can sustain the coldest of weather that you'd get in Alabama.
moped replied: Are you sure it won't get rid of the good bacteria in your body too?
cameragirl21 replied: No, it doesn't because good bacteria is in your intestines, what they call flora. There is no reason for bacteria to be in your blood, that's an invasion, which is why your body temperature rises in response (fever) to the invader in your body, trying to make the temperture uncomfortable for the invader...which is why it's not a good idea to lower a fever with tylenol or something unless it's so high it can cause brain damage or discomfort. (this btw is different in babies and very young kids because their bodies have less tolerance to fevers so if your ped tells you to reduce the fever then do so). Anyway, bacteria in your blood, the bad bacteria from a cold or infection is anaerobic, it doesn't like oxygen so if you oxygenate your blood you create a hostile environment for the bacteria and it dies off. It may still enter your body but it won't thrive there so you won't get sick.
A&A'smommy replied: would it be wrong if snuck some in my husbands food?? LOL
cameragirl21 replied: It will make his food green, Jessica, so it would be hard for him not to notice. Also, you can't cook it, it has to stay in its natural state in order to preserve all the nutrients and benefits. Maybe whip up some smoothies, you can put it in a milkshake, I suppose, it will just turn green. Tell him you just learned that his ancestry is Irish so this is a new Irish drink for him to try....
mckayleesmom replied: No smelly farts you say?....I will definantly need to look into that for Leithan...
momofone replied: i actually had some this morning this is the brand of juice i buy Bolthouse Farms it contains fruit juice and wheatgrass.
Wheat grass is one of the most nutritious foods for you. I did not know they had a powder form will definitely look into that.
They also have them in capsule form.
A&A'smommy replied: ROFL he is partly irish so I COULD tell him that!!!
My2Beauties replied: LMAO! I need some for Brian and Aubrey too
Hey ok - I'm pretty gross and talking about farts does not gross me out so I'm sorry if I gross anyone out with this question. I'm being serious though - so you're telling me if I have wheatgrass in my diet every day and I've been doing it say for 3 months now, I go to White Castles and eat about 5 cheeseburgers (which two usually do me in) my farts won't stink?? I know it's funny but I'm serious because White Castle farts are the worst and I love White Castles but I won't eat them because well everyone knows when I have
cameragirl21 replied: lol, Idk, LeaAnn, because I don't eat hamburgers or meat of any kind and I imagine that that would really make you fart because it's not easy to digest the way fruits and veggies are but chlorophyll is suggested to those who have a colosotomy bag to control odors so yes, I imagine it would work for your farts, at least greatly diminish them. remember that a fart in itself is odorless, it's the bacteria that smells. So if you are doing a constant liver and digestive cleanse and oxygenating your blood, you will have a lot less bacteria to create a smell. I've only been taking it for about 3 weeks and I sometimes skip it on weekends but I was told that if you take it for several months nonstop then you won't have any smells--not your feet, not your pits, not your breath, and not your farts either. I will keep on using it and force myself to take it daily and will let you know if you're interested.
moped replied: So how much powder per day?
Is it expensive?
Have you tried the capsule form?
Safe for children etc?
Just curious and once I know the facts I may just get some!
Personally I like the idea of a capsule
cameragirl21 replied: Idk anything about the capsules, I imagine they'd be less potent but Idk. I take one tablespoon, mine has a scoop so you can measure it out and the recommendation is 1 tablespoon 1-3 times per day. So far I'm doing once a day but I may up to 2. Mine was on sale for 17.49 down from the usual 24.99 at Whole Foods for 30 servings of one tablespoon. Idk if it's safe for children, I'm sure there is some information about it on the web, I can't imagine it wouldn't be, it's just cholorophyll and greens, it's like feeding your kids power veggies. There's nothing harmful or toxic about it, it's not something that if you have too much you'll get sick, etc, it's harmless. The kids would actually probably get a kick out of it--it turns your drink totally green, like a deep shade of green. Here is a link about it that addresses if it's safe for children and answers other questions: http://www.greenlifefoods.co.uk/faq.htm
A&A'smommy replied: OMG LeaAnn that is HILARIOUS!!! btw thanks now I really want a hambuger
momofone replied: www.swansonvitamins.com
They have tablets. I have ordered from them before and it is a great company.
Nina J replied: I had to go to the super market just before, and I went to the health food section to see if they had it. I got powdered wheatgrass for $17, it has (according to the label) 133 serves in it.
Anyway, I mixed it with some 'real' apple juice which I got the other day (it is apparently 100% apple juice, peel and all). I thought it looked gross the way it turned green but it didn't change the taste. But this is tmi, I went to the toilet before and did the longest pee ever and I have only had that apple juice with wheatgrass and a cup of tea for hours I don't even know if it was the wheatgrass but it was kind of weird...it was probably something else and I've just shared my toilet experiences
