plastic surgery - would you do it?

cameragirl21 wrote: i've been a lazy bum all day, watching reruns of dr 90210 so a question comes to mind--would you go under the knife and if so, what would you get done? if you said no, why wouldn't you do it?
just curious.... tongue.gif

lisar replied: I am watching that right now. LOL... No I dont belive I would have anything done. Mainly I have had a few surgery's in my life and I dont see the point in putting myself thru that for that reason. KWIM? I dont blame others who do it. Its just my choice.

MotherForever2043 replied: I love Dr.90210 smile.gif I chose no, mainly because I'm pretty happy with my body and there would have to be something important reason for me to have it done.

cameragirl21 replied: i should add that if i thought i needed it, i'd do it in a heartbeat, i have no problem with it although i don't like the look of fake boobs so that i wouldn't do. but i must say, watching them do it on the show makes me really grossed out and i wanted to be an ER doc so it takes A LOT to gross me out but watching them break noses and do boob jobs is pretty gross, not to mention the removal of extra tissue like after a gastric bypass where there is sagging skin.
so maybe watching this show will make me say no at some point if i watch it often enough.... wink.gif tongue.gif happy.gif

Jamison'smama replied: I voted yes. I would definately have a breast reduction and I would consider having some skin removed that was a result of 2 c-sections.

Boys r us replied: Absolutely!!! So funny we all must have been watching those reruns today!!!!

I was thinking how I'd like to have my breasts reduced and perked (breastfeeding 3 kids can do a real number on the boobs!) and I would like to have my baby pooch fixed in the lower stomach area as well as a little lipo in what I consider my trouble area, my upper arms..they've never been as small as I would like them to be!

moped replied: 100% Yes....I want my boobs fixed badly - they are just hangy socks.....nasty

cameragirl21 replied:
LOL, Jen, sorry but that literally made me spray my computer with the water i was trying to swallow when i read what you wrote! laugh.gif
actually, the key to perky boobs is strong chest muscles so if you start doing a lot of push ups and chest exercises with dumb bells you'd get a lift but if you want to fix the boob itself then yeah, you'd need the help of a doc with a scalpel.
BUT you can't bf afterward so i guess you'd have to wait till after number 2 is weaned to do it, assuming you want to stop at 2 and assuming you want to nurse, which is just an assumption on my part and i could be wrong on both counts.
but i must say they probably only look like hangy socks to you and not to anyone else, we all see ourselves as worse than what we are.

Mommy2BAK replied: I sure would!

C&K*s Mommie replied: emlaugh.gif

I would. I would have either a lift of the breasts, or an augmentation with silicone since breasts lifts tend to be much pricier than augmentations.

CantWait replied: Only for lipo and a tummy tuck. tongue.gif

redchief replied: No. It's hard to mold that which is already perfect. tongue.gif

Heheh... really, I'm no big fan of self-induced pain, and if I had elective cosmetic surgery the only person I'd be able to blame for he pain would be myself.

luvmykids replied: I honestly don't know. The only thing I'd think about body wise would be a boob lift but they're so small it wouldn't matter much laugh.gif

Facially is probably more where I'd consider it seriously, maybe a laser resurface when I'm in my 60's rolling_smile.gif

Nina J replied: happy.gif I would

gr33n3y3z replied: no I would not have it done unless there was a medical problem and something needed fixing after.

hawkshoe replied: I had a breast reduction years ago. One of the best decisions I ever made.

JadensMama05 replied: I vote yes but I wouldn't actually "go under the knife", that sounds a little scary. But I would definitely get some laser fix ups on my skin. I've got some ugly scars from piercings and acne from when I was in high school. Plus I still get too many zits and I'd love to get my skin fixed. That's all I'd do. I'm happy with my B cup boobs smile.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: My first answer would be no...but truthfully, I would maybe do some minor surgery to take off acne scars from my face and of course if I got in an accident, I would maybe repair what is damaged, kwim? I have wanted fake boobs in the past, but I wouldn't do it now. But that's it. Botox is just plain scary to me! And I just think that people that do it all the time start to look unfriendly.

PrairieMom replied: I voted no. I am way to cheap. If someone would pay for it, then sure! I would love to get rid of my frontal butt!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Okay, I forgot to mention that I just made an appt to do a tooth bleachiing and I'm getting front veneers/crowns on, plus a new bridge. It's cosmetic work, but also highly needed! I'm very excited...so I guess I should change my answer to YES! biggrin.gif Insurance is covering a large portion of it....YAY!

moped replied:
Actually other than my chest my body is ok I guess........I could lift a thousand pounds a day and they would not come back - it is just empty skin and it is gross......I wouldn't want implants but I want them back where they belong - I wear very good bras so people don't believe how bad they really are.

I would and likely will do it after I have another child. No sense ruinging brand new boobs on that......

I would also like to have my butt lifted a bit and possibly a bit of lipo for the saddlebags - but I can't afford it all but man would I be a happy girl!
I am relatively materialistic I suppose............

boyohboyohboy replied: i would do it in a heart beat, but like tara said, I am also to cheap to pay for it..so if it was for free...then maybe yes....

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I have been considering a lift actually. It's the only thing I would probably have done so I voted yes.

coasterqueen replied:
Ok Nichole, I have to correct you here because I don't like it when BF gets a bad wrap for this. tongue.gif It's NOT, I repeat NOT breastfeeding that makes the boobs lose their perkiness, it is the act of pregnancy all in itself. The reason they become saggy is because your boobs grow a lot during pg, hence having to go with bigger bras during that time, therefore the skin is stretched quite a bit meaning when the size of them go back down, whether you nurse or not the skin does not have enough elasticity to stay perky.

Ok, on to OP question. I voted no, because I do not like to be vein, although sometime I can be. I believe plastic surgery in general is a very vein act. Now I know there are tons of procedures that NEED to be done and are NOT a vein act. All that said, there may be a time where I might do it anyways. The thought of having perkier boobs, no extra skin from the c-section (that sags and looks like cottage cheese, ICK!), a less wider butt, and skinny thighs......in many ways they are what they are because of my genetic make-up AND what I've done to it. So I will live with it or try to improve it the best way I can. Yes, I will use creams or whatever, but I won't put myself through an unnecessary procedure which would mean going under the knife.

ETA: I think my reasoning stems a lot from trying to teach my girls that they are beautiful no matter what and that looks aren't everything. Plastic surgery is done so much in hollywood and many are pressured to do these things and I just am disgusted by it. This is not how I want my girls to see themselves or what they need to do to be perfect. They are not Barbie, and they were not made that way. I plan to teach them to do what is necessary to take care of their bodies so they don't get certain ways. Although, I know PG is inevitable, the stretch marks and such, BUT the way we eat and exercise during PG is something we can control.

Ok, I was too long winded. Sorry. blush.gif

My2Beauties replied: I wouldn't for the simple fact that I'm happy with what I have. I'm pretty against boob jobs, for the sake of making them humongous and I think it's a waste of money, but I'm all for reductions for medical reasons and maybe perking them up if they are droopy, that would affect my self-esteem. Unless someone completely just has nothing but nipples I don't see the point in it. Some men love small breasts, they just need to find one laugh.gif As far as other plastic surgeries go, it's touch and go with me. I think tummy tucks are good especially for women who've had children or have had trouble losing weight in the stomach area or have excess skin from extreme weight loss, I think nose jobs are fine if someone is incredibly unhappy with their nose and it has greatly affected them. But cheek implants, collagen in the lips, tattooed on make-up, guys getting implants in their calf muscles to make them look bigger, all of that stuff is nonsense. I think people need to look inside themselves more nowadays and find the beauty within. Something to help up someone's self-esteem is fine, but many people go completely overboard with it.
