posh establishments - how do you fair?
luvbug00 wrote: When i went to this hair salon the other day it was super posh and i was VERY nurvous ( my normal salon is salon de nadia so I'm not used to other people tuching me) they served whatever drink u want and asked, if your water should be sparkling, still, flavored?? I just was like nothing for me ! I hated every min of being there. it was akward. I felt compleately out of place. Also i've been to those resturaunts where there are enough forks for an octopus. those really freak me out.
So how do you fair in a posh establishment? is it easy to fit in or do you feel like a fish out of water too?
moped replied: Oh I am in my happy place 100%.......and my salon is like that - I love it!!!!!
HuskerMom replied: I've never been to a salon like that before, I think I'd probably feel out of place.
Crystalina replied: I've never been to a solan like that where I live but when I go to Florida it's always like that. We never park the car because valet does it for us. We are very pampered. Then we come back home and have to park our own car.
gr33n3y3z replied: I can fit in to those places just fine just as long as its here on the island and not in the city on the island we dress one way here beach style LOL shorts, shirts of some sort and flip flops.
I cant stand going into place that are like Saks Fifth Avenue
A&A'smommy replied: Fine I guess my regular salon is like that.. they also serve lunch if you are there during lunch time. But I don't go there very often one of my VERY good friends is a SAHM/cosmetologist so I go to her now
luvmykids replied: I can hang in a place like that I can be comfortable just about anywhere.
Boo&BugsMom replied: As long as the people are nice and not snooty, I'm fine.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That's totally my element! I love it!!!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I love to go places like that!!! One of my favorite salons is just like that but the girls are so sweet! If they were rude that would be a totally different story but I LOVE being pampered!!!
Calimama replied: Oooo I love it! I took DH to my salon one day and he didn't understand why I asked him to wear more than a T-shirt.. until we got there.
MoonMama replied: I have to admit I love it too!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: When I used to go, I'd go to places like that.
I was raised to eat manners for every meal...and the fancy clothes, fancy places etc...my godfather was a rich snooty gay man... so all the forks etc doesn't phase me, actually a lot of my friends tend to make fun of me because I unconsciously re-arrange my place setting when I have dinner out either at restaurants or at their place. I can fold a cloth napkin in probably 15 different shapes.
Man I was sheltered as a child.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: As long as the people there don't think they are way above everyone else, then I am fine. I go to a pricey salon, but I can come in wearing flip-flops if I wanted and fit in fine. As far as restaurants, you all know I'm a foodie, so I'm all about the proper place setting, good service, etc. But take me to an In 'n' Out Burger joint and I can hang there too.
mom21kid2dogs replied: If you want to send me to one I'd be more than happy to furnish you with a full report on it, Nadia!!!
sparkys2boys replied: ok if you go I go..lol!!!!
luvbug00 replied: LOL unfortunately ladies i do NOT think i can handle going back and although i luvs ya I'm not paying that much for a haircut ever! the staff was very nice BTW but it's just not me. I'm happy chopping away at my hair sitting on the top of the closed toliet in my bathroom.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Same here - but low key, low maintenance is definitely my preference.
PrairieMom replied: I feel totally out of place in places like that. I can't even shop at the GAP in our mall becuase I feel like people look at me like I don't belong there.
Our Lil' Family replied: Ditto!!! I love being pampered!
Mommy2BAK replied: SAME HERE!!!!
