question about wedding cake

A&A'smommy wrote: Ok my wedding anniversary is in like in like 19 days in the back of my mind I have been planning what I'm going to do to surprise my love. WELL here is what I got his favorite food is ravioli (not like chef boradi or whatever). So I'm going to get him out of the house get him to rent a movie (that we will both like) and buy some champagne or wine. I am going to turn the living-room into a romantic picnic, finish cooking, clean kitchen and have it ready to put food away (so later on we wont have much to do). The only thing I'm forgetting is the cake it has been in the freezer for almost a year! So how and when should I take it out and make sure it isn’t going to taste like crap (I wrapped it really good in plastic wrap and then in foil so it wouldn’t get freezer burn). Does anyone have any ideas?

Elle replied: What a great idea! He'll love it! wub.gif

I just wanted to tell you that *lol* I have no advice on the cake thing as I never did that... But I'm sure someone here will know!

Good luck with your celebration smile.gif

mummy2girls replied: AWWWWWWW what a sweet wife you are....dont have any advice for the cake huh.gif

kimberley replied: how romantic! wub.gif i hope you have a perfect night! no advice on the cake here either. ours is STILL in the freezer! blush.gif

3_call_me_mama replied: Ours was in tupperware and we just took it out hte morning before we wanted to eat it, so it was thawed. And honestly it tasted the same as it did on our wedding day:)

A&A'smommy replied:
Wow thats awesome, I wish someone had thought to tell me about that I was SO clueless! And VERY harmonal I was like three months pg lol rolling_smile.gif

3_call_me_mama replied: I was 5 1/2 mos PG at the time.. Cameron actually got to share our anniversary cake with us.... My MIL is sort of a freak about detail, so she made sure i put it in the tuperware that we got as a gift at the wedding.... But i think if you wrapped it well, it should be fine.. just thaw it early that day and have plenty of milk on hand just in case it has dried out smile.gif HTH

A&A'smommy replied:
It is SO nice to know that I am not the only who got pg before they were married! I wish now I had waited a couple more months and planned out my wedding a little more it wouldn't have killed me to wear a maternity dress lol. But whatever I'm SO excited!

maestra replied:
I was 6 months preg at my wedding, so you are not the only one! rolling_smile.gif

CantWait replied: I'm amazed being 3 months pregnant you were able to keep the cake in the freezer and now eat it LOL rolling_smile.gif WTG thumb.gif I wouldn't have.

Nice idea for your anniversary though iloveyou.gif

amynicole21 replied: LOL! Our wedding cake was cheesecake, and it tasted fine after a year. I was a little freaked out about it though, so kept imagining that it had gone bad. Needless to say, I couldn't eat much wacko.gif

Elle replied:
*lol* that amazed me too! rolling_smile.gif

And I got pregnant, had a baby, pregnant again, blah, blah, blah... And still not married!!! wacko.gif That was never an issue for me rolling_smile.gif

ediep replied: ours tasted like crap after a year. I guess I hadn't wrapped it that well. Your dinner plan sounds great!! Have fun!

MylittlePaige replied: Sounds like a wonderful evening! Good luck on the cake thing. I thought we had ours wrapped really good and it was AWFUL. I *forced* DH to eat some anyway rolleyes.gif It is a traditional thing that I thought would be cool. I am pretty sure I took it out the night before and it was thawed by the next day. The darn thing probably would have tasted better frozen!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I would say either take it out the night before or ealry that morning....I hope yours takse ok, mine was horrible! course that was almost 10 years ago.......oh your not the only one PG when married, my mother was, and my oldest sister was the first marriage and had a baby before the second marriage..... wink.gif

Hope you have a great annivesary!

booey2 replied: Sounds like a great night planned, we never got to eat ours a year later because our cake was used as the midnight snack with coffee for the guests. It was 2 hearts joined, marble cake, that said our names, and date. Everyone loved it so much there was none to bring home. I didn't have a lot of traditional stuff at our wedding.

coasterqueen replied: This is horrible, but I don't remember whether ours tasted good or not. Hmm, I'll have to ask DH, lol.

I think if you take it out the day before it should be good or even just the night before.

Sounds like a PERFECT evening. It will be great!

chloe&tysmommy replied: I agree..if you take it out the night before or the morning of then it should be ok!

Have fun lovebirds.gif

CantWait replied: We got married on our way to Edmonton. We stopped in Toronto for a few days while we were moving so we couldn't save any of our cake dunno.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Aweee, sounds like you have a very special and romantic night planned.

My Mom wrapped ours for us since we left on our honeymoon, and it tasted fine. But, DH wouldn't eat much. He is kind of paranoid about that kind of thing... he won't even eat left-overs from the night before. Ashley and I usually have the left-overs for lunch.
