lisar replied: With those names I can only imagine why they were taken.

Calimama replied: I wonder if they think naming their kids that is funny now.

PrairieMom replied: why?!?! those were GREAT parents! rolleyes.gif dry.gif

Nina J replied: Poor kids, it's sad sleep.gif They get landed with stupid names, I wonder what was happening at home for them to be taken away? I hope things look up for them.

My2Beauties replied: That doesn't surprise me sleep.gif

A&A'smommy replied: who would have thought rolleyes.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: All I can say is if the reason they were taken is because their names were offensive then that is a scary thing! I am sorry but until the reasons they were taken are given I will reserve my opinion....if being stupid disqualifies you from being a parent than they better start one big @$$ round-up!

cameragirl21 replied:
Apparently, giving your kid a name that is going to ensure a lifetime of @$$ kickings and being shunned is considered a form of abuse.
They don't say why they were taken but naming them after notorious mass murderers may be a good enough reason for the authorities.
And imo, those people are beyond stupid, they're deranged. And being deranged generally doesn't make for good parenting or a safe environment for kids.
I hope the authorities change their names, pronto.
They should rename them Martin Luther King, Anne Frank, and Harriet Tubman.
That would get those demented parents where they live, wouldn't it? wink.gif laugh.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I think it has to do with more than just their names as the parents were teaching their children a lifestyle of hatred. But, I still think there is more to the story that led to the children being taken away as it is still legal for the KKK to march down our public streets and our tax dollars are spent by having the police there to protect these idiots and keep the peace.

I think the media drew attention to the family, that led to closer scrutiny, and I think there was something else found that led to the removal of the children. The parents appearantly show poor judgement in naming their child, I am sure that carries over into other aspects of parenting. Of course, I am only speculating, and I could be wrong.

BAC'sMom replied: Ok I think I have this right. If you name your child Sara, Julie or Sue you have good parenting stills. But if you name your child Moonbeam, Petunia or after any mass murderers you have bad parenting skills. I didn't read that in What to Expect When You're Expecting.

Yep Abbie, saddle the horses and while your at it fire up the pit for the branding irons. wink.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: There has to be more to it than just the names. I mean, they've had their names for years, they've been in the community, for crying out loud their names had to be registred with the state after their birth, didn't it? I would hope that officials issuing the birth certificates read what they're issuing...

If it's just the names.. I mean, quite a few celebrities should be stripped of parenthood, no?

cameragirl21 replied: It's not that the names are weird, they are blatantly offensive.

BAC'sMom replied: Offensive? huh.gif

cameragirl21 replied: It never occurred to me that I would have to explain what makes the name adolf hitler offensive.
Incidentally, if a girl can be taken from her parents for being named Talula Does The Hula, I think these names should be self explanatory with regard to why these kids are no longer with their parents.

jcc64 replied: Well, offensive is in the eyes of the beholder. Some people find interracial marriages offensive. Should those children be remanded to the state as well? I am fairly certain that there is much more to this story than just those ridiculous names. I would imagine it would be a freedom of speech issue, crazy as it sounds. I'm not defending anything about their parenting skills, believe me, but a law is a law is a law, as Dee Dee said, though I don't think anyone said it any better than Abbie:

cameragirl21 replied: oh, for those who don't know, it's illegal to disseminate nazi propaganda in the US. So free speech does not apply to books like "mein kampf" for example, that are not allowed to be sold in book stores.
I personally don't care what they name their kids but apparently child protective services does, so if anyone here disagrees with the decision, take it up with CPS, I am just the messenger. biggrin.gif

BAC'sMom replied: Well according to what I read this morning the spokeswoman for the state Division of Youth and Family Services said the state will not remove children from a home simply because of their names.

And imo parents should be allowed to names their kids whatever they want too. Just because Adolf Hitler killed millions of people doesn't mean his name should never be used again. If that was the case I could say that the name Andrew Jackson is offensive to me.

my2girls replied: Taula Does The Hula From Hawaii was from New Zealand where they have laws againist naming children certain names.

Adolf Campbell is not offensive.
JoyceLynn Campbell is not offensive ( that is her 1st name NOT Aryan Nation, that is her middle name).
Honszlynn Campbell is not offensive.

Few people will know that Honszlynn Hinler is the female version of Henrich Himler, unless when they become school age and an adult would bring up these childrens middle names in public.

Even Sergeant John Harris, of the local police said:
"I've dealt with the family for years and as far as the children are concerned, I have never had any reports of any abuse with the children.
As far as I know, he's ( the father) always been very good with the children."

Hopefully there is more to this then just having named your children something people don't like.

my2girls replied:
Actually you can.
Men Kampf can be found at almost any community library and can be bought, sold and traded from many websites like Amazon.com and Borders Book Store.

Also I think you are thinking of Germany NOT the U.S when you say its illegal to disseminate Nazi propaganda. If that were true then all of the neo-Nazi, white power websites would be illegal, as well as music , clothing and books. All of which are not illegal in the U.S.

lisar replied: I dont it had anything to do with the kids names. However when a parent names their kids like that then its obvious that they aren't the brightest around.

Nina J replied: It is offensive. I find it extremly offensive to think that 2 adults would bestow upon their children names that directly relate to the systematic killing of millions of innocent people because they were not considered worthy of living. And in addition the 2 people were also so weak and spineless they killed themselves rather than face persecution for the crimes against humanity they committed.

The first names alone are not offensive, but you cannot just drop the middle names to suit. Legally, there names are the first, middle and last.

The names offend me, and the fact two people would give such names to their children is disgusting. The thing that irks me the most is that they had such a lack of compassion, they set their children up with names directly relating to opression and hatred. I also think it is offensive because the parents obviously chose the names in relation to the Holocaust and related ideas, and to think that anyone can view that as something to name a child after disgusts me.

But I am sure they are not a lone case. There are probably children out their named Pol Pot, Josef Mengele or Charles Manson.
