speaking of Halloween

cameragirl21 wrote: I must say that I absolutely LOVE the Halloween movies, particularly the first one with Jamie Lee Curtis. I love scary movies in general but I've always been quite fond of Halloween and I love the music, as I mentioned sometime back, I use that Halloween music as my cell phone ringer.
Anyone else here love scary movies and/or have a fave scary movie?
I also love The Exorcist and watch it every year during the scary movie marathon that always takes place around Halloween. One year, they only showed it in Spanish so I had to settle for watching it in Spanish...nothing like head spinning and pea soup spewing with a roll of the R's.... wink.gif
Lol, that year, my GS's mom was convinced she had evil ghosts in her house and didn't watch any of the scary movies even though she normally loves them. I understood all of the Spanish except the end, where they say something to the effect of, "the power of Christ commands you" so I had to call my GS's mom, who's Cuban and speaks much better Spanish than I do what it means. She found it an odd question cuz it's not the kind of line you hear every day, especially from someone like me so she asked me where I heard it and when she found out I was watching the Exorcist she completely freaked out, lol laugh.gif
Incidentally, back to the Halloween movie, the creator of it, Moustapha Akkad, was killed in the terrorist attacks in Jordan not too long ago...I don't know if any of you remember the wedding in Jordan that was bombed...he and his daugther were both guests there and both were killed there. bawling.gif
On a more fun note, anyone have any fave scary movies to share?

lisar replied: I do not like scary movies at all. I know I am a chicken. I just dont like them. I will dream about them and all.

MM'sMama replied: I LIVE for horror movies! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif My favs. are 13 Ghosts, Wrong Turn (something about that one freaks me out), The Grudge (sp?), Silent Hill, Lost Voyage and many many more.

TheOaf66 replied: I like the horror movies that are more realistic...I have seen all the Halloweens, Friday the 13ths, Nightmare on Elm Streets, and Hell Raisers...I just laugh. I enjoyed The Ring and The Amityville Horror (old and new)

cameragirl21 replied: I don't like the Friday the 13ths, Nightmare on Elm Streets, etc but I do love the Halloween movies, i think it's the music wink.gif .
I loved The Ring also but hated The Ring 2, that was just stupid IMO.
and I liked the Amityville Horror also, read the book when I was in middle school.
Still don't believe it's a true story but that's a whole other subject.... happy.gif

TheOaf66 replied: it is based on a true story...I can send you a link about the story it is based off of

MM'sMama replied: I love The Ring as well but I have yet to see Amityville. blink.gif You know its funny but I actually watch all my horror movies with my oldest brother (whose 32). My husband is a big chicken and wont watch them to save his life. But my brother and I rent a lot of them and we will sit on the couch and get so into them! rolling_smile.gif One time his wife came home and we didn't hear her come in, she flipped on the light and we about jumped out of our skins! rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif Its a lot of fun. wub.gif

TheOaf66 replied: well it is funny, my DW loves horror movies but gets scared by them...she absolutely freaked while watching Amityville Horror, I find it funny

MM'sMama replied:
I'm going to have to watch that this weekend if I can rent it. thumb.gif I have not seen a movie in a LOOONG time that scared the heeby geebies out of me. But then again I love it when they do. emlaugh.gif

ETA, Yet I am scared of going outside alone at night and being home alone at night, figure that one out. blush.gif cool.gif

cameragirl21 replied: Ok, don't laugh but the only movie that REALLY freaked me out was "The Blair Witch Project" but only because I saw it when it first came out when everyone believed it was real.
I knew the people in it were just actors b/c I figured that if they really died their parents would never allow this found footage to be used as a movie but I thought that the story was a true one and that this was just a reenactment.
I was freaked out for a while and on top of that, a friend and I had just gotten back from this place near Daytona called Cassadega (sp?) which is a town of ghost catchers and psychic mediums and haunted houses and I had brought back some tree branches with that funky moss like from Blair Witch on them and my friend said that I'd be bringing ghosts home that way and sure enough, all my doors kept opening and closing on their own after that which didn't scare me until I saw the BW Project.
Nowadays, I can watch it and laugh but back then....
Genius move on the part of those who made that low budget film with the bad camerawork that kept making me nauseous....

sorry dunno.gif

MM'sMama replied:
Don't feel too bad. When I first saw it I was around 13 and was babysitting for a friend of my parents I babysat for every Saturday. I think they were about 9 and 10 at the time, and it scared the heck out of us! noooooo.gif noooooo.gif When their mom came home she just laughed at us all sleeping together on the couch with "weapons". blush.gif

And as for doors opening and closing. At my parents house once I moved my bedroom downstairs. I was always coming back from the kitchen or something to find my door open when I was 200% it was closed and closed when I was 200% sure it was left open. And also the lights turned off and on. And I was the only one down there. noooooo.gif unsure.gif They have since made a rule against kids alone downstairs at night, blush.gif so know one else has really experienced this other then the lights really. I was never really scared though, my thoughts were it was a spirit/ghost and it was just messing with me for kicks. rolleyes.gif

Crystalina replied: The Blair Witch Project gave me a migraine but I will admit that the last half second sent a chill up my spine. Too bad the whole thing wasn't like that. The second one isn't even worth talking about. dry.gif I also got into Nightmare on Elm Street but only the first one and only because my Johnny was in it. wub.gif

There is a new Texas Chainsaw Masacre that is out. I'm dying to see that one. ....get it. rolling_smile.gif I kill me....get it rolling_smile.gif I love scary movies and it's a darn shame there are not more bone chilling ones. sad.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Yeah yeah yeah, yuck it up! I loved the movie, but I had to have hubby walk me up to bed. It totally freaked me out. Horror movies always freak me out, but I love watching them.

coasterqueen replied: I actually have only seen a few scary movies and only because Dh made me. happy.gif My dreams at night haunt me so much that I have no need to watch scary movies. I don't need haunted anymore than that. sleep.gif

moped replied:
Same here

Don't like them at all

A&A'smommy replied:
I'm not a big scary movies person I HATED the ring for some reason it freaked me out but I liked the grudge and saw 1 & 2 even though they freaked me out. but my all time FAVORITE "scary movies" are the amityville horrors they don't scare me at all and totally do NOT believe its a true story no way!!! rolleyes.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: I LOVE scary movies but I get soooo scared by them. My favorite is probably Saw & Saw II. Saw III is coming out in a few weeks...I can't wait to see it.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I watched Blair Witch Project by myself, alone, in my parent's dark house...I was actually in their sunroom. I didn't see the big deal. dunno.gif The last scene was creepy, but that was about it.

The scariest movie I've ever seen is the "I see dead people" movie. What's the name of it? For some reason it creeped me out to no end. blink.gif I couldn't get over the nightmares after that one.

All the other horror movies are silly to me and I laugh thru them as well. Now Scotty, he wouldn't watch a horror movie for nothin!

The types of movies that haunt me are the ones where bad things happen to children or when they get kidnapped. I can't sleep for days after watching something like that. My stomach is literally in knots. sleep.gif

jacobsmama replied:
Agreed! blush.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
Same here!

I am glad that DH has a friend that likes scary movies as much as he does... so I don't have to watch them with him. laugh.gif
