spinoff formula "goodie bag" at hospitals
luvbug00 wrote: Did you get one? what did it include? did they have exta supplies on the baby cart? and if so did you take from it??
I sure didn't. Like i said they rolled in a cart of "loot" and you bet you bottom i took it all when it was time to go. (i was shelling out a good 5-6 grand to pay for the birth there ,so heck yeah i was gonna dig in!)
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Our health care system covers births, so we don't have to pay a darn thing. Well, the hospital room, if you don't have a personal insurance plan - but that's only about 150$ for a private room. Plus 16$ for a phone line, plus 16$ per day for cable tv.
They provide you with ice packs for your crotch... They'll give you big thick hospital grade pads as well to soak up the bleeding for 24 hours after the birth, because usually tpical storebought pads aren't absorbent enough, you have to change them like every 30 minutes.
They do provide sugar water to help stave off the hunger pangs in the baby, though, but only if you ask for it, they don't offer it.
They don't provide diapers, nor wipes, nor butt creams. They DO provide little sample tubes of vaseline though, for the baby's belly button. They give you a small package of literature to read, info, and a lady comes around to show you hospital picture packages.
What do you expect for having a baby for free....
ETA - I just about lied. They DO give you a little hat for the baby, and a receiving blanket. The ones they wrap the baby in after birth once it's cleaned up, and the hat to keep baby warm. They let you take those home.
Calimama replied: Ice pack, creams, witch hazel, formula, breastfeeding supplies, diapers, wipes, medicine. We got a ton!
momofone replied: They were very generous with me. I got 3 packs of diapers and about 4 packs of ready to use formula I think Prosobee.
luvmykids replied: I got TONS of stuff in the gift bags....diapers, wipes, formula samples, bottle/nip samples, pads, etc.
Then the hospital gave us 4 blankets, 4 hats, plus a ton of other stuff. I think since we had twins they figured we'd take all we could get (and did LOL)
lovemy2 replied: Oh yeah I think with Olivia I got like 4 or 5 of those diaper bags - my OB office used to get a ton of them so they kept giving them out - lots of different stuff in it - the hospital gives you everything a really nice fleece blanket - a hand knit hat, diapers, formula, receiving blankets, a fabulously stylish pair of stretchy undies, pads, witch hazel, breastfeeding supplies, graham crackers, juice, ice cream, granola bars, you name it - lots and lots of stuff to read, etc..................
gr33n3y3z replied: just 2 plastic bags one full of junk and the other full of info thats it and one little 6 pack of 4 oz formula Oh and a breast pump
A&A'smommy replied: I don't remember everything but I do remember there was a HUGE diaper bag FULL of stuff for me and baby and another was a smaller diaper bag full of formula, and then ALL the other extra stuff
we took home a car full of stuff
moped replied: Ok I remember the pads
I did have diapers and wipes and vaseline for Jack
Had A c section so I don't know about the ice packs
and HEY, I didn't get a hat or blanket!!!!!!
Cece00 replied: My MIL works at the hospital I delievered at so I got stocked up...
I got the diaper bag, full of the stuff, extra formula, breastfeeding supplies/pump supplies, diapers, creams, some of those blankets, the hat, coupons etc.
Mommy2BAK replied: I really can't recall.
But I know it seemed to be a lot
CantWait replied: We got clothe diapers to use while we were in the hospital. Sample of vasaline and butt cream. Little alcohol wipes for the belly button. A hat.
That's about it.
No icepacks either.
mummy2girls replied: Jordan.. diapers samples, cream, vaseline, package with pamplets, coupons, etc, and a bag full of formula.
jenna... diapers, cream, vaseline, pacadge with pamplets and coupons.
no ice packs here either
but i would rather have this little stuff with a free delivery and such than have to shell out 5 grand and get a crap load of stuff.
BabyOwen427 replied: When we left I took all the goodies they had on his cart. Diapers, vasoline, wipes, pads for me, and I accidently took the wash cloth from the bath cause I wrapped up my bar of soap in it and forgot I had it when we left. We got formula from my doc earlier that week and I gave it to my bf who was ff her baby. I didn't want any formula in my house because I didn't want to have the temptation of formula. I still have a pack of huge pads, I figure I'll use them if my washer ever overflows
ZandersMama replied: I didn't get alot with Zander, but with Zavier I got a ton of stuff when he finally came home.
The diapers he was wearing at the time were so tiny I couldn't buy them around here so they gave me a ton of them, bottles to store breastmilk in, tons of disposable nipples and bottles. Lots of preemie clothes........the NICU nurses were great!
3xsthefun replied: I think I got more this time then I did the first two times and we took everything was in his cart diapers, wipes, 2 tubes of petroleum jelly, hat, bottles of formula and nipples. Plus we got a diaper bag with diapers and bottles of formula and a t-shirt.
I forgot we also got baby wash and lotion also that was in his cart.
Bamamom replied: Let's see - the goodie bag was a backpack diaper bag that only had "blue pads", and those huge sanitary napkins, and those glamorous stretchy panties.
His/her cart has a pack of size 1 Huggies, 2 packages of wipes, some diaper cream, a pacifier, a bottle of shampoo, and a bottle of lotion - oh and some napkin like burp cloths.
They also gave us the recieving blanket and the little cap.
Boo&BugsMom replied: We got 3 huge goodie bags, two of them were diaper bags stacked with items. We were also told we could take whatever we wanted from the cart, aside from linens...so of course I did...diapers are expensive! The bags had coupons, formula, samples, diaper cream, wipes, and other misc. supplies. I use both bags too on a regular basis.
holley79 replied: We had a truck load of stuff we brought home. The nurses I had just loved me because I never bothered them. They said they wished all first time moms were like me. We got formula (she said just in case i needed a drink ), wipes, tons of diapers, pads, creams, lotions I mean so much stuff. They also gave me replacement parts for my Medela and a hand pump just in case I didn't feel like lugging that out. They were awesome to me.
PrairieMom replied: My friend was my nurse when I was there, so I got hooked up. Our bad was a standard black diaper bag, (broken zipper) with a small can of Similac, a bottle, one diaper, a disposable changing pad, and a bunch of coupons, oh, and those samples of crack Spackle. (desitin) She did give me a few breast pump accessories too, just because I asked her for them. They were very careful to not over stock our room, so we were only able to nab a couple diapers.
