state police installing car seats

J-rod wrote: do they do this all the time or just special occasions? i have a new one and i cannot for the life of me get it installed...i have been beaten and i admit it.

so if i go to the SP barricks tomorrow wil they install it for me? or do they only do it on certain days?

CantWait replied: Try your local fire department, they should be able to help you out.

Twelve Volt Man replied: Most large police departments, fire depratments, and certainly state police/highway patrol agencies have officer/troopers who are certified and trained in how to properly install child safety seats. It's really anyone's guess as to whether or not such an officer/trooper is available at any given time, but if you'll call them, they should be able to steer you in the right direction. Kudos to you, by the way, for wanting to get it done right!

J-rod replied: yea im gonna call and ask around.....id rather look dumb and get it installed correctly than to worry about something going wrong.

sparkys2boys replied:
My thinking exactly!!

boyohboyohboy replied: I have had mine put in several times by our local police, but usually i have to make an appt with them.
I prefer the people at the satarn dealer, they are set up thru our local hosp.
but I get mine installed and then checked every three months.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
We did ours at the local fire department. We did have to make an appointment because there are only certain people who are trained in it and certain hours they do it, but we had no problem getting in there really quickly.

J-rod replied: well ive called 3 police stations and nobody there can do it. got 2 answering machines at stations (makes ya feel good huh. lol)

gonna try a couple fire stations now.

J-rod replied: guess im on my own....nobody does it here anymore sad.gif

Boys r us replied: There is a website somewhere that will let you type in your zip to tell you where/who around you does it! Let me see if I can find it!

BAC'sMom replied: J-rod- One important thing to do when installing car seat is to put YOUR body weight in the car seat or base (for rear-facing seats) therefore they are snug and tight. Also adjust the shoulder straps and make sure they are nice and snug too.

Here is a link you might also try your local Children's Hospital they usually can help.

J-rod replied: well a certified installer (cop) came by and we still couldnt get it....looks like this seat wont work in our jeep. so maybe we will return it to try another one.

i installed the other one just fine....but cant do this one for the life of me.

Calimama replied:
Wow I didnt know that not all car seats fit in every car. huh.gif Learn something new everyday I guess.

holley79 replied:
My convertible car seat wouldn't fit in DH's Jeep rear facing. Forward facing will fit just about anything. Rear facing is another story.
