sterilize sippy's?
stanleygirl wrote: Are you supposed to sterilize sippy cups? Do you just boil everything, the cup, valve and lid?
TIA!!
gr33n3y3z replied: If you have a dish washer just throw all the babies stuff in there
amynicole21 replied: I never did. I stopped sterilizing with Sophia's stuff when she was about 6 months old - and even then I only did it every month or so. She wasn't using sippys until she was over a year old, and then I just made sure I washed them in the dishwasher before using them.
stanleygirl replied: That's the thing I don't have a dishwasher, so I soak the valves in soapy water veofre I wash them by hand, but I worry they aren't clean enough.....
amynicole21 replied: I think that once they are over 6mos old they're putting much worse things in their mouth than hand-washed sippys Perhaps boil it the first time to ease your mind, but other than that I think hand washing is perfectly fine.
coasterqueen replied: I use the dishwasher. I haven't hardly sterlized anything of Megan's either. Dishwasher does the job, IMO.
luvbug00 replied: I set them in boiled water for 5 min. All parts. I was a clean freak when Mya was little!
mckayleesmom replied: I soak all my bottles,,,,bottle lids....sippy cups...lids and valves in hot soapy water...then I put them in the dishwasher.....I always wash the nipples by hand
stanleygirl replied:
That is a very good point!
MommyToAshley replied: Most sippys tell you on the instructions to boil/sanitize it before you use it the first time. I know a lot of people that don't sanitize them after the intitial use, but I think I probably still would if I didn't have a dishwasher.
3'smom replied: I still soak the valves in a little bleach water every 2-3 weeks to make sure all the yuck is out of them.
ediep replied: I just wash it when I first buy it, then it goes in the dishwasher everynight.
With bottles, I always washed by hand
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I just put them in the dishwasher.
