THANK YOU:) ~~Mel
moped replied: I say give it to him and he will figure out that he can have juice or milk in a sippy........or a bottle???
lisar replied: I would slowly do it like this
3 ounzes formula 1 ounce of milk 2 ounces formula 2 ounces milk 1 ounce formula 3 ounces milk
that they way I done it with both of my kids.
MommytoTommy replied: ^^that sounds logical. i heard somewhere that you have to do it slowly. the formula and milk together wont bind him? should i do that cold turkey? like, if he doesnt drink that, should i just give him a bottle of formula? can you tell that im a first time mom?
BabyOwen427 replied: Get him used to drinking milk before you add the change of a sippy cup also. Then just put a bit in the sippy so he can realize that milk comes from things other than bottles. As he gets more used to getting milk in a sippy start filling the sippy up more and not giving bottles. Like if you give three bottles a day take one bottle away and replace it with a sippy and if he does good with that replace another bottle and so on until he is off bottles. That is what I plan on doing with DS, I don't think it's as harsh as cold turkey. KWIM? Good luck.
BTW when is your ds's birthday? My ds turns one April 27.
PrairieMom replied: I'm having the same problem with my 10 1/2 month old. She WILL NOT drink formula from a sippy. She takes one drink, finds out it's not juice, and zings the sippy across the room. She will drink 6 oz of 1/2 juice and 1/2 water out of it no problem tho. I have been offering a formula sippy, and I keep giving it to her for about 1/2 an hour, then break down and pour the formula into a bottle. I figure, if I introduce it to her long enough eventually she will drink out of it.
Oh, and welcome!
MommytoTommy replied: ^^thats EXACTLY what tommy does!!! thank you guys for your advice. its hard sometimes!!! and btw...tommy turns one on 4.25. (and what does ds mean?)

MommytoTommy replied: haha thanks for explaining all that to me!:)
Boo&BugsMom replied: I always just went to everything cold turkey and never turned back with Tanner. I put milk in a sippy ONLY, never in a bottle so he wouldn't get use to it in a bottle. I did half and half for about the first few days, then went to straight milk. He was pretty ok with it, if he fussed I just wouldn't give in and he eventually knew that was all he was getting. After a week or so he was all good with it. I just kept on thinking about the cost of formula and kept my eyes on the prize!
moped replied: I am prettty much a cold turkey kind of person too
MommytoTommy replied: ok so far so good. were down to 2 oz formula: 4-5 oz milk. hes doing ok, not fussing about it like i thought he would! now to see if hell let me take away the bottle......
thank you guys for yer help and advice!!!!
Our Lil' Family replied: So am I. I introduced the sippy with formula early on (about 9 1/2-10 months) and he took it and never looked back. Then at a year I changed the formula to milk, and he did great! Maybe I'm just lucky.
