thinking like a psychopath

cameragirl21 wrote: i hope this doesn't offend or upset anyone, i just thought it was kind of interesting.
ok, here's the story (and as far as i know it's not a real story, just an example):
a single woman and her mother go to her sister's funeral. at the funeral, she meets a wonderful man that she totally hits it off with but when she left the room for a moment, she lost track of him and when the funeral was over, he was gone and she never got his number. she asks everyone about him but no one knows who he is or why he was at her sister's funeral. she is determined to find him...what does she do?
if you answer this right, it means you think like a psychopath...it absolutely does NOT mean that you ARE a psychopath but if you think like a psychopath you are most likely to outsmart one should such a circumstance come up. i learned in one of my psychopathology classes that all people have a certain degree of psychopathology in them, it's just that we know that we can't cross that line...a psychopath doesn't see a line to be crossed, that is the difference. incidentally, a forensic psychologist, one of the most highly trained, educated and intelligent careers in the world typically thinks like a psychopath...that is what makes a forensic psychologist so good at his/her job.
i am stressing this because i really don't want this to lead to hurt feelings or accusations, this is just an interesting exercise in critical thinking, no one here is a psychopath, nor am i implying that anyone here is one.
just curious if anyone can figure this out...it's pretty obvious once you know the answer.
and Brenda, since you're a shrink, you probably know the answer so don't give it away, ok?

Jamison'smama replied: I do know the answer ( I think) wink.gif but I hadn't heard this specific scenario.

kimberley replied: fake her own death and sees if he'll show up dunno.gif

amymom replied: i guess I would just need to kill my mom and hope he shows up at the funeral. Unless I have another sister, then she would go first. Or is that my mom's sister... then definetely Mom would hve to go and I would hope he comes. OMG I can't believe I just said this. But since you mentioned psychopath and funeral... killing is all I could think of. emlaugh.gif

kimberley replied: or kills her mom to see if he shows up ohmy.gif laugh.gif

amymom replied:
that is much nicer than my answer!!!!

cameragirl21 replied: Brenda got it, she PM'd me the answer, i will not reveal the answer yet, to give others a chance to take a stab at it....
ETA--lol, take a stab at it, i didn't even realize i said that until i read it, lol, no pun intended.... wink.gif

redchief replied: Read the guest book and find him by process of elimination.

Mommy2BAK replied: have his face posted on the 6 oclock news asking if anyone knows him to give her a call?? laugh.gif

Our Lil' Family replied:
that's my answer too

cameragirl21 replied:
Ed, all i can say is...you would make a horrible psychopath! rolling_smile.gif
have you ever known a psychopath to take the rational route?

PrairieMom replied: Ive seen this before, and I gave the answer of the psychopath, but I can't for the life of me remember what my answer was. rolleyes.gif I guess I used to be a psychopath, but am not anymore. laugh.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: She kills her mom in the hopes that the man comes to that funeral.

salmndr007 replied: My answer would have to be...

She goes to the local fish market and buys 3 lobsters, but they aren't from Maine. The first lobster she throws off of a bridge and notes that it hit the water at a 5 degree angle at about 35 mph. This she notes. The second lobster she force feeds turnips, which she also notes. Finally the last lobster, seeing the other lobsters tortured, tells her that the guy actually lives down the road 2 houses and was bored that day so he decided to take a walk around the cemetary and just so happened showing up at that particular one, so killing the rest of her family or faking her own death would be completely senceless.

Is that the right answer?

CantWait replied: Gosh I don't know, I personally would just forget about it. Geez if he didn't leave me his number or ask me for mine before he left, then he wasn't that interested in the first place. dunno.gif

redplaydoh replied: Thinking like a psychopathic would... I'd kill another family member, sister or brother, maybe even mother (sorry mom).

But of course if I were going to go THAT far I'd make it worth it. I'd make their deaths bizarre enough to capture front page headlines to make sure he would show up just for the curiosity of it all...

But of course I would never think that way, or would I.....???? pthhh.gif

kimberley replied:
rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif you're too funny!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: She kills her own mother.

ETA: Someone should warn this guy who he is dealing with. rolling_smile.gif

mom2my2cuties replied:
emlaugh.gif NO KIDDING!!!!!

My3LilMonkeys replied:

Of course that's not the right answer....everyone knows that lobsters love turnips! emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif
