sunrosejenn wrote: We go September 27 for her Pre-Surgery appointment. Surgery will be October 2. The surgery is 1 hour and they put her to sleep. She doesn't do good with IV's at all. The first day will be weird but the 2nd should be fine and back to normal.

hawkshoe replied: My son went through this surgery when he was 15 months old. He also had to have a lid lifted. He did fine. In fact, the Dr. said he would probably act like he had the flu for a day or too, but no not my kid. As soon as we got home he hit the ground running He even had a bloody plastic bubble (because of the lid lift) over the one eye and he didn't even act like it was there. It came off the next day and other than the eyes being a bit bloodshot, he had no problems.
sunrosejenn replied: Thanks for sharing your story!
CantWait replied: I missed a post somewhere and don't know what's going on, but best of luck with the surgery
sunrosejenn replied: Thanks!
Eliana has been wearing glasses to try to correct her left eye from crossing. Now her right eye is doing it. Th glasses are not working so surgery is next. Her vision is good though which is great.
Strabismus Surgery. Surgery consists of tightening some eye muscles and loosening others, to change their pull on the eyeball and bring the eyes into alignment. (Occasionally, a loosening effect can be accomplished without surgery by injecting a paralyzing medication, called Oculinum, directly into the muscle.)
redchief replied: I'm familiar with the procedure. I'm sure she'll do fine.
sunrosejenn replied: Thanks!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Sorry to hear this! I hope everything works out! As for the IV, can they put a numbing cream on the area where the IV will go in before hand? They do this hear in Thunder Bay with kids of all ages. I think it's called Emila Cream and it works like magic!
sunrosejenn replied: Thanks!
I'll have to remember the name of that cream. It always takes 4 tries to get an IV in her.
