wedding help

PrairieMom wrote: I am officially my sisters wedding planner. laugh.gif She set a date. SHe has only been engaged for 2 years, so it is really about time. Her date is oct 20. thumb.gif
My first order of business is to get some color themes. She likes the color wine, and her dress is white with light pink appliqué. ANy ideas on colors? personally, I wouldn't pick wine, but I thought I would get some ideas before trying to change her mind.

Here is her dress.

MoonMama replied: Beautiful dress! I don't know that this will help but my colors were light pink, lavender, and silver. I have a friend who is a wedding planner and I can ask her some diff. color combo's if you would like. Good luck wih the planning I know you will do a great job, she is a beautiful bride! wub.gif

grapfruit replied: Wow, that dress is awesome!

I always thought that Orange roses would look good in a bouquet...Not that that helps you w/colors. smile.gif

Ok, off to vacuum now!

CantWait replied: I like the colour wine, but with her dress I don't think wine colour flowers would look right. I think with the rest of the decor it won't matter though.

mom2my2cuties replied:
My roses were orangish...they were that orangish coral color. smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied: that is an incredibly gorgeous dress.. I honestly don't have any ideas because I like the color wine and you can do a lot with it especially if she is having an evening wedding (which you didn't say the time). AND omg her eyes are glowing blue wow!! Have fun!!! thumb.gif

luvmykids replied: My dress had light pink applique on it as well and my bridesmaids wore a minty metallicy pale green....I was a bridesmaid in a wedding with a dress similar in colors and we wore ivory with dark red flowers....

What I did was ignored the pink and narrowed it down to colors I really loved and then went from there in seeing how they looked with my dress.

hawkshoe replied: Honestly, I think wine would be a very nice color for her wedding. You could throw in some mauve and ivory too.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well, to be honest, if the color i'm thinking of is like a dark burgundy color, that will look absolutely gorgeous, especially with light pink accents. thumb.gif

What kind of dinner will she be having? Dark table cloths tend to curb the appetite. So maybe some wine colored tablecloths, with white covers on them, and light pink flowers or candles on the tables?

I had some little lights at my head table, under the tablecloth, it was gorgeous.

As for a bouquet - if she's not set on anything, White Calla Lillies and Wine Calla Lillies with baby pink roses and some baby's breath would look awesome.

www.theknot.com is very helpful - it helped me.

PrairieMom replied: We have no details about this thing ironed out yet. SHe is just getting started. Its a PITA for me, since she has no intrest in the little things like table clothes and such, plus, she lives 2 time zones away, so I am trying to plan this from afar. dry.gif We don't even know how many guests she is having and all that yet. rolleyes.gif Plus, she wants another reception here at home too, and hasn't picked a date for that yet. Good grief.

PrairieMom replied:
She loves Calla lillies! Thanks for the site, I will have to check it out. thumb.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: You're welcome! happy.gif
