weird question.. - m/c ment'd
kimberley wrote: i don't have any medical basis for this, but a couple of friends of mine have this idea that when we have a really brutal AF, it was prolly an early m/c. what do you think of that? i used to have a normal af that would get severe the more sexually active i was so i wonder if there is any truth to what they say.
coasterqueen replied: Well I have heard that it's completely normal and common for women to have m/c and not even know it. For one because their normal period comes only a day or two late can be the same. The other is we are able to test really early than we used to so we can detect them, whereas before we couldn't. So IMO it's entirely possible. This is something my OB/GYN talked with me about extensively when I had all that bleeding with Megan and we couldn't see her on the sono and was bracing me for the posibility of a m/c.
luvmykids replied: I have a friend who says that also. I don't know if it's true, but I am learning m/c is far more common than I ever thought, so I guess it could be? Mine used to be brutal all the time though, even before I was sexually active so I don't know but I could believe it.
PrairieMom replied: I have heard that too. I was taught that almost all women have a M/C at some point in their lives, most just don't know about it.
kayla's mama replied: If heard that too.
NEWMOM05 replied: Well When I had my M/c my Doctor sdaid that most women just think it's a tough one or a long one. I knew I was pg before I even m,issed my cycle. Most women wouldn't have realized they were even pg yet, but somehow I did. I know some women that never realized they M/c until their doc sees the scaring or tissue from it.
My2Beauties replied: That is what I would have thought had I not known. I was only about a week or so late, so if I hadn't tested I would have just figured I had a heavy AF. So I think it could be possible.
luvbug00 replied: I truely believe that is true. I have always had heavy periods, I have had 2 "real" ( as in needed medical attention and such) M/C last year. I have since then had one bizzare Extra heavy period and I think that was a m/c. But I have medical proof it was. So I think your theroy is right.
mckayleesmom replied: ditto
Nina J replied: I think it's true. I've occassionaly had a very heavy and painful AF, and I'm usually light with no pain at all.
siblingtoolivia replied: I 100% believe it, I understand from what my MD told me that is what they call a chemical pregnancy....I had one, got a positive hpt the day af was due and started bleeding 5 days later and then a blood pt indicated not pregnant anymore....so had I not tested, I would never have known......................I have to say ignorance is bliss in a situation like that
Bee_Kay replied: My sister suffers from extremely painful AF (a couple of GP told her she suffered some m/c). So, after years of me badgering her to get her butt to an OB/GYN, she finally went and they did a bunch of testing.
The result was, her fallopian tubes are collapsed and she's never been pregnant. She can opt to have surgery (which she plans on doing) but there is no guarantee it will be sucessful. If it is determined that her fallopian tubes are inoperable, the dr will remove them and she will be sterile.
She is 32 now, and no children. I feel so bad for her. I just wish I could have MADE her go to the doctor years ago when her AF started to be so severe.
The severe cramping at that time of the month, is a result of collapsed fallopian tubes.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I read somewhere that 1/4 periods are a m/c. I don't know if trhat's true.. but I did read that somewhere.
Brias3 replied: I've always wondered if this were true as well. After all, I am pretty sure I heard a statistic like nine out of ten women (or some up there number) experience at least one miscarriage in their lifetime. Could this be true of ones that occur before pregnancy is known? I wonder where you could look to find out for sure, just for curiousity's sake.
