went to lunch with my dad....

kimberley wrote: he makes me nuts most of the time but he he totally made my day today! he called me up around 11:30am and asked if i could be ready in 5 min so he could take me, James and Jade to lunch. we got ready, went for a really yummy chinese lunch and talked. he told me that he is the one who chose my name at birth (my mom wanted to name me Tina) and that he always liked that name long before my mom was even pg. he got this cute smile on his face and said he liked the sound of "little Kimmy" wub.gif

my dad is just so old-school filipino and doesn't usually show his softer side to anyone except babies because he is always fawning over Jade. then he started talking about his life when he was a kid and it was just so great to hear him open up. he also gave me a big hug when he left. wub.gif

paradisemommy replied: awee..i'm a big time daddy's girl so i know how that goes..i love my dad!! wub.gif wub.gif

DansMom replied: That is awesome! He must be remembering when you were little because of Jade. Some men just soften up as they get older too. It sounds like a wonderful lunch you had.

coasterqueen replied: Aww that's great. Sounds like you had the perfect lunch! wub.gif

My Dad is the same way, not one for the "I love you's" but I know how much he cares about me and would do anything for me.... well, any of us kids.

MomToMany replied: wub.gif That's just awesome! It makes such great memories!

My dad wasn't the "I love you" type, but he showed it in other ways, especially as he got older. He passed away in October of 2001, at the age of 78 bawling.gif . He was 54 when I was born, and there are 4 more kids after me!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Kim that is so wonderful! I'm glad you got the opportunity to spend some quality time with your dad. My dad and I are pretty close, too. I guess b/c we are so much alike. smile.gif
