what do you call your drinks?
PhiMuMommy wrote: i was just curious.. i only drink coke or dr pepper.. but i call them soda if i don't know what they offer.. (what type of soda do you have?) so i was just seeing what everyone else did..
Celestrina replied: Generally coke, soda to me covers everything else (7up, sprite, root beer, etc).
MyLuvBugs replied: Oh heckles. I'm from the midwest. It's all Soda pop. or just pop for short. My DH makes such fun of me!!!
Mom2Boyz replied: It's all soda to me, unless I'm ordering it at a restaraunt. Then I'll call it by name.
TsurugiButterfly replied: I would have voted for "Other." Up here there's still a lot of people that call soda "tonic." Which is actually what soda originally was when it was first invented. Manufacturers tried to claim that it had medicinal properties, hehe. I've noticed that when I go into Boston, if you ask for soda, you'll get soda water. Ewww. Ask for tonic, and they'll ask you what kind I usually just order by name so that there's no surprises.
That's just one of a lot of regional food things that amuse me. Kind of like vinegar on french fries. Up here fries and malt vinegar go hand in hand. But I went to Indianapolis a few years ago and got fries in a Steak N Shake (I wish we had those here...) and they looked at me like I was insane when I asked for vinegar...
3xsthefun replied: I call it pop.
kimberley replied: i am canadian... it is pop!
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I am in Illinois and we call it pop.
ammommy replied: I live in Indy and you're right. People don't understand the deliciousness of malt vinegar on french fries. Hoosiers are just weird
PhiMuMommy replied: i'm a hoosier.. but never heard of malt vinegar on fries! wow.. my friend used to drink the bottle on the table at long john silvers tho..lol
i can't stand the smell .. much less the taste..
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: SODA!
coasterqueen replied: I'm in Illinois and we don't call it pop! I call it soda or by name.
MommyofTwins replied: Soda. My mother always makes fun of me. She says it's pop. Does it really matter?
5littleladies replied: I say soda, but most of the people around me call it pop-I'm in MN.
jacobsmama replied: wow...more people say Soda then I thought..My doctor i work for is from New york and she says soda and it cracks me up..I guess here people mostly say pop..
