Mommy2Isabella replied: wow! Not something I am going to try ... but neat!
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I've heard of this on other parenting boards. It seems to work for them. I, myself, do not have an "open mind" about elimination communication yet to give it a chance. Luckily I won't have too either.
moped replied: EC has been a topic a few times, which if memory serves me it got a bit heated as well........could not would not do it for my babies!
cameragirl21 replied: you mean you don't want to hiss like a snake to get your child to pee or poop?
Crystalina replied: What I don't understand is the woman in the article took her son out to the yard. Why not the toilet? Wouldn't that confuse the child as he's growing up. You can either pee in the yard or the toilet...whichever is closest Honey.
To each his own. I'm done with diapers.
luvbug00 replied: imagine being at the mall and the kid goes in a potted plant becaue mom took him out to the yard.LOL!
Oh mercy! yeah not for us either, we will go cloth and that is enviornmental enough for me.
HuskerMom replied:
I don't think I'd want to start potty training that early. I joke about potty training Keith now but I wouldn't actually do it yet.
PrairieMom replied: I have heard about this before, it was a heated topic on this board over a year ago. Personally its not for me. I don't see how it works, and I don't have the energy to put into it. I remember Molly (Mom to Many) saying she was going to try this with her next baby, I wonder if she ever did. Didn't she have another baby not to long ago? Anyone still talk to Molly?
Calimama replied: Interesting.. not for me.. but interesting.
msoulz replied: That is amazing. Who knew?
gr33n3y3z replied: yeah she is very earth friendly and what not
PrairieMom replied: Yes she is. I wonder if she ever tried this.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Interesting idea. I'm curious as to why the mom in the article helped her daughter relieve herself in the sink in a public restroom though - why not use the toilet?
grapfruit replied: Interesting...I would love to "see it in action". I'm thinking that article over simplifys things. I'm sure it's a lot more work...
Kentuckychick replied: My thought exactly! My germaphobic self would have been absolutely appauled if I'd witnessed that in the public restroom. I don't care when you choose to potty train your child but there is an appropriate place to pee/poop and the bathroom sink is NOT it!
I also had to laugh at the photo of the mother holding the 13 month old up over the potty. What about a potty chair? It looks highly uncomfortable. And does mommy/daddy have to go to preschool with their child later on and hiss in order for him/her to go to the potty? Sounds like they are conditioning their children to use the potty -- not training them. I just don't get the whole process I guess
